অতঃপর মূসা তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের কাছে ফিরে গেলেন ক্রদ্ধ ও অনুতপ্ত অবস্থায়। তিনি বললেনঃ হে আমার সম্প্রদায়, তোমাদের পালনকর্তা কি তোমাদেরকে একটি উত্তম প্রতিশ্রুতি দেননি? তবে কি প্রতিশ্রুতির সময়কাল তোমাদের কাছে দীর্ঘ হয়েছে, না তোমরা চেয়েছ যে, তোমাদের উপর তোমাদের পালনকর্তার ক্রোধ নেমে আসুক, যে কারণে তোমরা আমার সাথে কৃত ওয়াদা ভঙ্গ করলে?
Then Mûsa (Moses) returned to his people in a state of anger and sorrow. He said: ”O my people! Did not your Lord promise you a fair promise? Did then the promise seem to you long in coming? Or did you desire that wrath should descend from your Lord on you, so you broke your promise to me (i.e disbelieving in Allâh and worshipping the calf)?”
فَرَجَعَ مُوسَى إِلَى قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُم مَّوْعِدِي
FarajaAAa moosa ila qawmihi ghadbana asifan qala ya qawmi alam yaAAidkum rabbukum waAAdan hasanan afatala AAalaykumu alAAahdu am aradtum an yahilla AAalaykum ghadabun min rabbikum faakhlaftum mawAAidee
YUSUFALI: So Moses returned to his people in a state of indignation and sorrow. He said: “O my people! did not your Lord make a handsome promise to you? Did then the promise seem to you long (in coming)? Or did ye desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you, and so ye broke your promise to me?”
PICKTHAL: Then Moses went back unto his folk, angry and sad. He said: O my people! Hath not your Lord promised you a fair promise? Did the time appointed then appear too long for you, or did ye wish that wrath from your Lord should come upon you, that ye broke tryst with me?
SHAKIR: So Musa returned to his people wrathful, sorrowing. Said he: O my people! did not your Lord promise you a goodly promise: did then the time seem long to you, or did you wish that displeasure from your Lord should be due to you, so that you broke (your) promise to me?
KHALIFA: Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed, saying, “O my people, did your Lord not promise you a good promise? Could you not wait? Did you want to incur wrath from your Lord? Is this why you broke your agreement with me?”
৮৬। সুতারাং মুসা ক্রুদ্ধ ও ক্ষুব্ধ অবস্থায় তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের নিকট প্রত্যাবর্তন করলো। সে বলেছিলো , ” হে আমার সম্প্রদায় ! তোমাদের প্রভু কি তোমাদের এক উত্তম প্রতিশ্রুতি দেন নাই ২৬০৬? তবে কি প্রতিশ্রুতি কাল তোমাদের কাছে সুদীর্ঘ মনে হয়েছে ? না কি তোমরা তোমাদের প্রভুর ক্রোধ আপাতিত হোক তাই চেয়েছ ? এবং সে জন্য তোমরা তোমাদের প্রতিশ্রুতি ভঙ্গ করেছ ?”
২৬০৬। এই আয়াতে দুইটি প্রতিশ্রুতি উল্লেখ আছে। একটি প্রতিশ্রুতি হচ্ছে , আল্লাহ্র প্রতিশ্রুতি। অন্যটি ইসরাঈলীদের প্রতিশ্রুতি। আল্লাহ্র প্রতিশ্রুতির উল্লেখ আছে আয়াতে [ ২০ : ৮০ ] এবং ইসরাঈলীদের প্রতিশ্রুতির উল্লেখ আছে [ ২ : ৬৩ ] আয়াতে এবং ব্যাখ্যা আছে টিকা নং ৭৮। আল্লাহ্র প্রতিশ্রুতি ছিলো ইসরাঈলীদের রক্ষা করা এবং প্রতিশ্রুত দেশে পৌঁছানো এবং ইসরাঈলীদের প্রতিশ্রুতি ছিলো আল্লাহ্র আইন বা প্রত্যাদেশকে মেনে চলার।
