তুমি তোমার হাতে এক মুঠো তৃণশলা নাও, তদ্বারা আঘাত কর এবং শপথ ভঙ্গ করো না। আমি তাকে পেলাম সবরকারী। চমৎকার বান্দা সে। নিশ্চয় সে ছিল প্রত্যাবর্তনশীল।
“And take in thy hand a little grass, and strike therewith: and break not (thy oath).” Truly We found him full of patience and constancy. How excellent in Our service! ever did he turn (to Us)!
وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَاضْرِب بِّهِ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ صَابِرًا نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ
Wakhuth biyadika dighthan faidrib bihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiran niAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun
YUSUFALI: “And take in thy hand a little grass, and strike therewith: and break not (thy oath).” Truly We found him full of patience and constancy. How excellent in Our service! ever did he turn (to Us)!
PICKTHAL: And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord).
SHAKIR: And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with It and do not break your oath; surely We found him patient; most excellent the servant! Surely he was frequent m returning (to Allah).
KHALIFA: “Now, you shall travel the land and preach the message, to fulfill your pledge.” We found him steadfast. What a good servant! He was a submitter.
৪৪। ” তোমার হাতে একগুচ্ছ ঘাস নাও এবং তা দ্বারা আঘাত কর; এবং [তোমার প্রতিজ্ঞা ] ভঙ্গ করো না ৪২০২।” সত্যিই আমি তাঁকে ধৈর্য্যশীল ও দৃঢ় রূপে পেয়েছিলাম। আমার সেবায় [ সে ] কত উত্তম ৪২০৩। সে ছিলো সর্বদা আমার অভিমুখী।
৪২০২। ভয়াবহ বিপর্যয়ের এবং দুঃখ কষ্টের মধ্যেও আইয়ুব নবী ধৈর্য্য হারান নাই ; তিনি আল্লাহ্র প্রতি বিশ্বাসে ছিলেন দৃঢ়। বাহ্যত তাঁর স্ত্রী সেরূপ ছিলো না। আইয়ুব নবীর কিতাব অনুযায়ী [ ২ : ৯ – ১০ ] তার বর্ণনা নিম্নরূপ :
“Then said his wife unto him,dost thou still retain thine integritz ? Curse God, and die. But he said unto her, thou speaks as one of the foolish women speaketh , what ? Shall we receive good at the hand of God , and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” সম্ভবতঃ তিনি রাগের বশে তাঁর স্ত্রীকে মারার কথা বলেছিলেন। এই আয়াতে তাঁকে উপদেশ দেয়া হয়েছে প্রতিজ্ঞা ভঙ্গ না করার জন্য এবং একগোছা ঘাস নিয়ে তা দ্বারা আঘাত করতে বলা হয়েছে। এর দ্বারাই প্রকাশিত হয় তার চরিত্রের কমনীয়তা , ধৈর্য্যশীলতা ও দৃঢ়তা।
৪২০৩। একই বাক্য ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে সুলাইমান সম্বন্ধে [ ৩৮ :৩০ ] আয়াতে। পৃথিবীতে মানব সন্তানের আগমন পরকালের প্রস্তুতির জন্য। আর এই প্রস্তুতির সর্বোচ্চ ধাপ হচ্ছে আত্মার উন্নতি লাভ। আত্মপোলব্ধি ও আত্মোন্নতির জন্য প্রয়োজন ধৈর্য্য ও দৃঢ়তা গুণ দুটি অর্জন করা আত্মার মাঝে। ধৈর্য্য ও দৃঢ়তা অর্জন করাও আল্লাহ্র এবাদত করা। দৃঢ়তা ব্যতীত ধৈর্য্য হবে জীবন বিমুখতা ও নিষ্কৃয়। সুতারাং যে বিশ্বাস দৃঢ়তার সাথে ধৈর্য্যের সমন্বয় ঘটায় – সেই মানসিকতা আত্মিক বিকাশের সহায়ক। এ কারণেই কোরাণে আল্লাহ্ মানুষের এই দুটি গুণ যা সব্র নামে অভিহিত ; তা বহু স্থানে উল্লেখ করেছেন। [দেখুন সবরের জন্য টিকা ৬১ ]। কবি মিলটনের ভাষায় ; “They also serve who only stand and wait.”
