বলুন, তোমরা পৃথিবীতে পরিভ্রমণ কর এবং দেখ তোমাদের পুর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কি হয়েছে। তাদের অধিকাংশই ছিল মুশরিক।
Say (O Muhammad SAW): ”Travel in the land and see what was the end of those before (you)! Most of them were Mushrikûn (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, idolaters, etc.).”
قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلُ كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّشْرِكِينَ
Qul seeroo fee al-ardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablu kana aktharuhum mushrikeena
YUSUFALI: Say: “Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides Allah.”
PICKTHAL: Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): Travel in the land, and see the nature of the consequence for those who were before you! Most of them were idolaters.
SHAKIR: Say: Travel in the land, then see how was the end of those before; most of them were polytheists.
KHALIFA: Say, “Roam the earth and note the consequences for those before you.” Most of them were idol worshipers.
৪২। বল, ” পৃথিবী ভ্রমণ কর এবং দেখ তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের কি পরিণাম হয়েছে। এদের অধিকাংশই আল্লাহ্ ব্যতীত অন্য কিছুর এবাদত করতো ৩৫৫৮। ”
৩৫৫৮। দেশ ভ্রমণ করে পৃথিবীতে ধ্বংস হয়ে যাওয়া সভ্যতাকে পর্যবেক্ষণ করতে বলা হয়েছে। ইতিহাস আমাদের এই শিক্ষা দেয় যে, পাপ এবং দূর্নীতি দ্বারা মানুষ নিজেই নিজের ধ্বংস ডেকে আনে। কারণ তাদের সকল কর্ম-ই মিথ্যার উপরে প্রতিষ্ঠিত। তারা মিথ্যা উপাস্যের উপসনা করে, জীবন ধারণের যে বিধান তা মিথ্যা মূল্যবোধের উপরে প্রতিষ্ঠিত, আশা -আকাঙ্খা মিথ্যা উদ্দেশ্যের প্রতি ধাবিত। এগুলি হচ্ছে মুশরিকদের বৈশিষ্ট্য। এ সব থেকে উপলব্ধি করতে বলা হয়েছে প্রকৃত সত্যকে।
