যখন আহার কর, পান কর এবং চক্ষু শীতল কর। যদি মানুষের মধ্যে কাউকে তুমি দেখ, তবে বলে দিওঃ আমি আল্লাহর উদ্দেশে রোযা মানত করছি। সুতরাং আজ আমি কিছুতেই কোন মানুষের সাথে কথা বলব না।
”So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: ’Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allâh) so I shall not speak to any human being this day.’”
فَكُلِي وَاشْرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيْنًا فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ الْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِي إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ الْيَوْمَ إِنسِيًّا
Fakulee waishrabee waqarree AAaynan fa-imma tarayinna mina albashari ahadan faqoolee innee nathartu lilrrahmani sawman falan okallima alyawma insiyyan
YUSUFALI: “So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to (Allah) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being'”
PICKTHAL: So eat and drink and be consoled. And if thou meetest any mortal, say: Lo! I have vowed a fast unto the Beneficent, and may not speak this day to any mortal.
SHAKIR: So eat and drink and refresh the eye. Then if you see any mortal, say: Surely I have vowed a fast to the Beneficent Allah, so I shall not speak to any man today.
KHALIFA: “Eat and drink, and be happy. When you see anyone, say, `I have made a vow of silence; I am not talking today to anyone.’ ”
২৬। ” সুতারাং আহার কর এবং পান কর এবং [ তোমার সন্তানকে দেখে ] চক্ষু জুড়াও ২৪৭৮। এবং তুমি যদি কোন লোককে দেখ,তাহলে বলো, ‘ আমি পরম করুণাময় [আল্লাহ্র ] জন্য রোজার মানত করেছি, [ সুতারাং ] এই দিনে আমি কোন মানুষের সাথে বাক্যলাপ করবো না ২৪৭৯।”
২৪৭৮। “চক্ষু জুড়াও ” এটা একটা প্রবাদ বাক্য যার অর্থ শান্তি পাওয়া। আক্ষরিকভাবে এর অর্থ দাঁড়ায় ছোট নদীর ঠাণ্ডা পানিতে মুখ ধুয়ে তাঁর চক্ষুকে ঠাণ্ডা করা ও যে অত্যাশ্চার্য শিশু সে লাভ করেছে তা দেখে তাঁর নয়ন জুড়ানো। তাঁকে চারিদিকে লক্ষ্য করতে বলা হলো, এবং নির্দ্দেশ দান করা হলো, যদি কেউ কাছে আসে মেরী যেনো মৌনতা অবলম্বন করে। এবং মেরী সেই অনুযায়ী প্রতিজ্ঞা করেন।
২৪৭৯। মেরী সকল পুরুষ ও মেয়েকে আল্লাহ্র নামে শপথ করে বললেন যে তিনি মৌনতা অবলম্বন করেছেন।
