অন্ধের জন্যে, খঞ্জের জন্যে ও রুগ্নের জন্যে কোন অপরাধ নাই এবং যে কেউ আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূলের অনুগত্য করবে তাকে তিনি জান্নাতে দাখিল করবেন, যার তলদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত হয়। পক্ষান্তরে যে, ব্যক্তি পৃষ্ঠপ্রদর্শন করবে, তাকে যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি দিবেন।
No blame or sin is there upon the blind, nor is there blame or sin upon the lame, nor is there blame or sin upon the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), He will admit him to Gardens beneath which rivers flow (Paradise); and whosoever turns back, He will punish him with a painful torment.
لَيْسَ عَلَى الْأَعْمَى حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبْهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
Laysa AAala al-aAAma harajun wala AAala al-aAAraji harajun wala AAala almareedi harajun waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtiha al-anharu waman yatawalla yuAAaththibhu AAathaban aleeman
YUSUFALI: No blame is there on the blind, nor is there blame on the lame, nor on one ill (if he joins not the war): But he that obeys Allah and his Messenger,- (Allah) will admit him to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and he who turns back, (Allah) will punish him with a grievous Penalty.
PICKTHAL: There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom.
SHAKIR: There is no harm in the blind, nor is there any harm in the lame, nor is there any harm in the sick (if they do not go forth); and whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will cause him to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, and whoever turns back, He will punish him with a painful punishment.
KHALIFA: The blind is not to be blamed, the crippled is not to be blamed, and the sick is not to be blamed. Those who obey GOD and His messenger, He will admit them into gardens with flowing streams. As for those who turn away, He will requite them with a painful retribution.
১৭। অন্ধকে দোষারোপ করা হবে না, পঙ্গুর জন্যও অপরাধ নাই, এবং রুগ্নের জন্যও কোন গুণাহ্ নাই [যদি সে যুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ না করতে পারে ]। বস্তুতঃ যে কেহ আল্লাহ্ ও তার রসুলকে মান্য করে – আল্লাহ্ তাকে বেহেশতে অধিষ্ঠিত করবেন যার পাদদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত ৪৮৯০। এবং যে পৃষ্ঠ প্রদর্শন করে [ আল্লাহ্ ] তাকে ভয়াবহ শাস্তি দান করবেন।
৪৮৯০। শুধুমাত্র যুদ্ধলব্ধ সম্পদের জন্য যুদ্ধ করা ইসলামে নিষিদ্ধ। ন্যায় ও সত্যের প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য যুদ্ধ হচ্ছে জেহাদ যা আত্মসংযম ও শৃঙ্খলার সর্বোচ্চ প্রকাশ। জেহাদের আহ্বানে সাড়া দেওয়া প্রতিটি সক্ষম মুসলমানের জন্য অবশ্য কর্তব্য। তবে অন্ধ, খঞ্জ ও রুগ্নের জন্য তা অবশ্য করণীয় নয়। তবে তারা দেশের অভ্যন্তরে থেকে নিজ নিজ সামর্থ অনুযায়ী দেশ ও জাতির সেবা করতে সক্ষম। এই আয়াতে এ সব ব্যক্তির নিয়ত ও উদ্দেশ্যের প্রতিও পরম করুণাময় আল্লাহ্ উদাসীন নন তাই ব্যক্ত করা হয়েছে। তারাও জেহাদের অংশগ্রহণকারীদের সমতুল্য ও পুরষ্কারের যোগ্য। পরলোকে তাদের সকলের জন্য আছে বেহেশতের সুখ ও শান্তি।
