তখন তার সম্প্রদায়ের কাফের-প্রধানরা বলেছিলঃ এ তো তোমাদের মতই একজন মানুষ বৈ নয়। সে তোমাদের উপর নেতৃত্ব করতে চায়। আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করলে ফেরেশতাই নাযিল করতেন। আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মধ্যে এরূপ কথা শুনিনি।
But the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said: ”He is no more than a human being like you, he seeks to make himself superior to you. Had Allâh willed, He surely could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old.
فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ مَا هَذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَاء اللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ
Faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa Allahu laanzala mala-ikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee aba-ina al-awwaleena
YUSUFALI: The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: “He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old.”
PICKTHAL: But the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: This is only a mortal like you who would make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels. We heard not of this in the case of our fathers of old.
SHAKIR: And the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves who desires that he may have superiority over you, and if Allah had pleased, He could certainly have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our fathers of yore:
KHALIFA: The leaders who disbelieved among his people said, “This is no more than a human like you, who wants to gain prominence among you. Had GOD willed, He could have sent down angels. We never heard of anything like this from our ancestors.
২৪। তার সম্প্রদায়ের প্রধানেরা বলেছিলো , ” সে তো তোমাদের মত মানুষের থেকে বেশী কিছু নয়; তার ইচ্ছা তোমাদের উপর তার শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব প্রতিষ্ঠিত করা। আল্লাহ্ যদি [ একজন দূত প্রেরণ করতেই ] ইচ্ছা করতেন ,তবে তিনি ফেরেশতা প্রেরণ করতে পারতেন। [ সে যা বলছে ] এরূপ কথা আমরা পূর্বে আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মাঝে শুনি নাই। ” ২৮৮৫
২৮৮৫। প্রতিটি মানুষই তার নিজস্ব অভিজ্ঞতার দাস। নূহ্ এর সম্প্রদায়ের লোকদের অভিযোগ এ কথারই সত্যতা প্রমাণ করে। তারা হযরত নূহ্ কে মিথ্যা অভিযোগে অভিযুক্ত করলো। তাদের ধারণা নূহ্ তাঁর শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব প্রকাশ ও সম্প্রদায়ের উপরে আধিপত্য বিস্তারের জন্য এক আল্লাহ্র ধারণাকে প্রচার করছে। তাদের বক্তব্য ছিলো, ” যদি আল্লাহ্, নবী বা প্রচারক প্রেরণের ইচ্ছাই প্রকাশ করে থাকেন তবে তাঁরা আমাদের মত মানুষ না হয়ে ফেরেশতা হতো। আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা একত্ববাদে বিশ্বাস করেন নাই। সুতারাং আমরা কেন তা করবো? “
