এবং আমি কত জনপদকে অবকাশ দিয়েছি এমতাবস্থায় যে, তারা গোনাহগার ছিল। এরপর তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করেছি এবং আমার কাছেই প্রত্যাবর্তন করতে হবে।
And many a township did I give respite while it was given to wrong-doing. Then (in the end) I seized it (with punishment). And to Me is the (final) return (of all).
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَمْلَيْتُ لَهَا وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُهَا وَإِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ
Wakaayyin min qaryatin amlaytu laha wahiya thalimatun thumma akhathtuha wa-ilayya almaseeru
YUSUFALI: And to how many populations did I give respite, which were given to wrong-doing? in the end I punished them. To me is the destination (of all).
PICKTHAL: And how many a township did I suffer long though it was sinful! Then I grasped it. Unto Me is the return.
SHAKIR: And how many a town to which I gave respite while it was unjust, then I overtook it, and to Me is the return.
KHALIFA: Many a community in the past committed evil, and I led them on for awhile, then I punished them. To Me is the ultimate destiny.

৪৯। বল, ” হে মানুষ! আমাকে তো প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে একজন স্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী রূপে ২৮২৮।
২৮২৮। আল্লাহ্র নবীর একমাত্র দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য হচ্ছে তাঁর প্রতি আল্লাহ্র দেয়া কর্তব্য সঠিক ভাবে এবং সুস্পষ্টভাবে পৌঁছে দেয়া। কেউ যদি তাঁর প্রচারিত সর্তকবাণী গ্রহণ না করে , তবে তাকে তা গ্রহণ করতে বাধ্য করা , বা তার বিচার করা বা তার জন্য শাস্তি নির্ধারণ করার দায়িত্ব নবীর জন্য নয়। অবাধ্য ও অবিশ্বাসীদের শেষ পরিণতির ভার একমাত্র আল্লাহ্র উপরে। অবাধ্য ও পাপীদের জন্য যে সর্তকবাণী তা কিন্তু শাস্তিদানের ভীতি দ্বারাই শেষ করা হয় নাই , তা আল্লাহ্র করুণার সংবাদও বহন করে ,তাদের জন্য , যারা পাপ করার পরেও অনুতপ্ত হয়ে আল্লাহ্র রাস্তায় ফিরে আসে।
