আপনার পূর্বেও অনেক রাসূলের সাথে ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রূপ করা হয়েছে। অতঃপর যে বিষয়ে তারা ঠাট্টা করত তা উল্টো ঠাট্টাকারীদের উপরই আপতিত হয়েছে।
Indeed (many) Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad SAW), but the scoffers were surrounded by that, whereat they used to mock.
وَلَقَدِ اسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِالَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُون
Walaqadi istuhzi-a birusulin min qablika fahaqa biallatheena sakhiroo minhum ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
YUSUFALI: Mocked were (many) messenger before thee; But their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.
PICKTHAL: Messengers before thee, indeed, were mocked, but that whereat they mocked surrounded those who scoffed at them.
SHAKIR: And certainly messengers before you were scoffed at, then there befell those of them who scoffed that at which they had scoffed.
KHALIFA: Messengers before you have been ridiculed, and, consequently, those who ridiculed them incurred the retribution for their ridiculing.
৪০। কেবল তাই নয়, উহা তাদের উপর আসতে পারে অতর্কিত ভাবে এবং তা তাদের হতবুদ্ধি করে দেবে। উহা নিবারণ করার কোন শক্তিই তাদের থাকবে না। [ তখন ] ওদের কোন অবকাশও দেয়া হবে না।
৪১। তোমার পূর্বে [ অনেক ] রাসুলকে বিদ্রূপ করা হয়েছিলো। পরিণামে তারা যা নিয়ে ঠাট্টা – বিদ্রূপ করতো তা বিদ্রূপকারীদের পরিবেষ্টন করবে ২৭০১।
২৭০১। অনুরূপ আয়াতের জন্য দেখুন [ ৬ : ১০ ] আয়াত এবং টিকা ৮৪৩। কাফেররা যা নিয়ে ঠাট্টা বিদ্রূপ করতো সেই ব্যঙ্গ বিদ্রূপের শাস্তি তাদের ঘিরে ধরবে।
