হে দাউদ! আমি তোমাকে পৃথিবীতে প্রতিনিধি করেছি, অতএব, তুমি মানুষের মাঝে ন্যায়সঙ্গতভাবে রাজত্ব কর এবং খেয়াল-খুশীর অনুসরণ করো না। তা তোমাকে আল্লাহর পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত করে দেবে। নিশ্চয় যারা আল্লাহর পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়, তাদের জন্যে রয়েছে কঠোর শাস্তি, এ কারণে যে, তারা হিসাবদিবসকে ভূলে যায়।
O David! We did indeed make thee a vicegerent on earth: so judge thou between men in truth (and justice): Nor follow thou the lusts (of thy heart), for they will mislead thee from the Path of Allah. for those who wander astray from the Path of Allah, is a Penalty Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.
يَا دَاوُودُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاكَ خَلِيفَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوَى فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ بِمَا نَسُوا يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ
Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnaka khaleefatan fee al-ardi faohkum bayna alnnasi bialhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillaka AAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloona AAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bima nasoo yawma alhisabi
YUSUFALI: O David! We did indeed make thee a vicegerent on earth: so judge thou between men in truth (and justice): Nor follow thou the lusts (of thy heart), for they will mislead thee from the Path of Allah: for those who wander astray from the Path of Allah, is a Penalty Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.
PICKTHAL: (And it was said unto him): O David! Lo! We have set thee as a viceroy in the earth; therefor judge aright between mankind, and follow not desire that it beguile thee from the way of Allah. Lo! those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful doom, forasmuch as they forgot the Day of Reckoning.
SHAKIR: o Dawood ! surely We have made you a ruler in the land; so judge between men with justice and do not follow desire, lest it should lead you astray from the path of Allah; (as for) those who go astray from the path of Allah, they shall surely have a severe punishment because they forgot the day of reckoning.
KHALIFA: O David, we have made you a ruler on earth. Therefore, you shall judge among the people equitably, and do not follow your personal opinion, lest it diverts you from the way of GOD. Surely, those who stray off the way of GOD incur severe retribution for forgetting the Day of Reckoning.
২৫। সুতারাং তাঁর এই [ ত্রুটি ] আমি ক্ষমা করলাম। সে উপভোগ করেছে আমার নৈকট্য এবং তার [শেষ ] প্রত্যাবর্তন স্থান হবে উত্তম।
২৬। হে দাউদ ! আমি অবশ্যই তোমাকে পৃথিবীতে প্রতিনিধি করেছি ৪১৭৭। সুতারাং মানুষের মধ্যে সত্য ও [ ন্যায়ের ] ভিত্তিতে বিচার -মীমাংসা কর। তোমার [ হৃদয়ের ] কামনা বাসনার অনুসরণ করো না। কারণ তারা তোমাকে আল্লাহ্র পথ থেকে ভ্রষ্ট করবে ৪১৭৮। যারা আল্লাহ্র পথ থেকে ভ্রষ্ট হয় তাদের জন্য আছে ভয়াবহ শাস্তি। কারণ তারা হিসাবের দিবসকে বিস্মৃত হয়েছিলো।
৪১৭৭। দেখুন আয়াত [২ : ৩০ ] এবং টিকা ৪৭। এই আয়াতে আল্লাহ্ দাউদ নবীকে তাঁর প্রতিনিধি হিসেবে প্রেরণ করেছেন। দাউদ নবীর রাজা হিসেবে প্রশাসনিক ক্ষমতা, জ্ঞান ,প্রজ্ঞা , ন্যায়বিচারের ক্ষমতা, সঙ্গীতের প্রতিভা , নবুয়ত্ব সবই আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহ ; এবং আল্লাহ্ তাঁকে অনুগ্রহ করেছেন সেটাতে তার নিজস্ব কোন কৃতিত্ব নাই। আত্মগরিমার কোনও অবকাশ নাই। দাউদ নবীর এই উদাহরণ থেকে সাধারণ মানুষের শিক্ষণীয় বিষয় হচ্ছে সাধারণ মানুষ তাদের মেধা, মননশীলতা, প্রতিভা,সৃজনশীলতা ; সাফল্য কৃতিত্ব সব কিছুর জন্য আল্লাহ্র পরিবর্তে আত্মগরিমায় লিপ্ত হয়। এ কথা সত্যি যে আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহকে নিজস্ব চেষ্টার মাধ্যমে আয়ত্ব করতে হয়। কিন্তু যদি মেধা বা সৃজনশীলতা বা প্রতিভা জন্মগত ভাবে লাভ না করে ,তবে চেষ্টা দ্বারা এসব করায়ত্ব করা সম্ভব নয়। সুতারাং জীবনের সকল , সাফল্যের মূল হচ্ছে আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহ এবং তার জন্য মানুষ অবশ্যই কৃতজ্ঞতা জ্ঞাপন করবে।
৪১৭৮। মুসলিম দর্শন অনুযায়ী দাউদ নবী বিভিন্ন গুণে গুণান্বিত ছিলেন এবং তিনি ছিলেন ন্যায় বিচারক। এই আয়াত গুলির মাধ্যমে দাউদ নবীর চরিত্রের নির্মলতা প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে এভাবে যে সামান্য পরিমাণ আত্ম অহংকার আত্মার মাঝে উদয় হওয়ার সাথে সাথে তিনি তা অনুতাপের বারিধারাতে ধুয়ে মুছে ফেলে সদ্যস্নাতরূপে প্রস্ফুটিত হন। দাউদ নবী সম্বন্ধে বাইবেলের ধারণার সাথে মুসলিমদের ধারণার বিস্তর পার্থক্য লক্ষ্য করা যায়।
