যদি সব মানুষের এক মতাবলম্বী হয়ে যাওয়ার আশংকা না থাকত, তবে যারা দয়াময় আল্লাহকে অস্বীকার করে আমি তাদেরকে দিতাম তাদের গৃহের জন্যে রৌপ্য নির্মিত ছাদ ও সিঁড়ি, যার উপর তারা চড়ত।
And were it not that all mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allâh), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators (and stair-ways, etc. of silver) whereby they ascend,
وَلَوْلَا أَن يَكُونَ النَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً لَجَعَلْنَا لِمَن يَكْفُرُ بِالرَّحْمَنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًا مِّن فَضَّةٍ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ
Walawla an yakoona alnnasu ommatan wahidatan lajaAAalna liman yakfuru bialrrahmani libuyootihim suqufan min fiddatin wamaAAarija AAalayha yathharoona
YUSUFALI: And were it not that (all) men might become of one (evil) way of life, We would provide, for everyone that blasphemes against (Allah) Most Gracious, silver roofs for their houses and (silver) stair-ways on which to go up,
PICKTHAL: And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We might well have appointed, for those who disbelieve in the Beneficent, roofs of silver for their houses and stairs (of silver) whereby to mount,
SHAKIR: And were it not that all people had been a single nation, We would certainly have assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent Allah (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses and the stairs by which they ascend.
KHALIFA: If it were not that all the people might become one (disbelieving) congregation, we would have granted everyone who disbelieves in the Most Gracious mansions with silver roofs, and stairs upon which they could climb.
৩৩। সত্য প্রত্যাখানে মানুষ এক মতাবলম্বী হয়ে পড়বে , এরূপ আশংকা না থাকলে ,দয়াময় আল্লাহকে যারা অস্বীকার করে তাদের প্রত্যেককে দিতাম রৌপ্য নির্মিত ছাদ ও সিঁড়ি , উপরে আরোহণের জন্য। ৪৬৩৬
৪৬৩৬। আধ্যাত্মিক সমৃদ্ধির তুলনায় স্বর্ণ, রৌপ্য , প্রভাব , প্রতিপত্তি , ক্ষমতা এসব পার্থিব জিনিষ অতি নগণ্য। এই আয়াতে আল্লাহ্ বলেছেন যে এগুলি আল্লাহ্র নিকট এতই তুচ্ছ ও মূল্যহীন যে তিনি ইচ্ছা করলে কাফেরদের অঢেল দান করতে পারতেন। কিন্তু তিনি তা করেন না। কারণ সেক্ষেত্রে শুধুমাত্র কাফেররাই নয়, সাধারণ মানুষও ঈমান বিসর্জন দিত এ সব পাওয়ার লোভে। বিশ্বাস বা ঈমান বিসর্জন দেওয়ার জন্য তাদের মধ্যে কাড়াকাড়ি পড়ে যেতো।ঈমানের পরিবর্তে ধন -সম্পদ লাভ এত বড় প্রলোভন অনেকেই ত্যাগ করতে পারতো না। রৌপ্যের ছাদ, সিঁড়ি ,দরজা , সোনার সিংহাসন ,অলংকার মনি -মুক্তা ইত্যাদি নশ্বর জিনিষ আল্লাহ্র পক্ষে মূল্যহীন। আল্লাহ্ দয়াময় তাই তিনি এ সব মূল্যহীন বস্তু দ্বারা মানুষদের প্রলোভিত করেন না। তিনি এসব বিভিন্ন ধরণের লোকের মাঝে বিতরণ করেন। এদের কেউ ঘোর পাপী কেউ আবার অন্যায়কারী। কেউ কাফের কেউ মোমেন। আবার এদের তুলনামূলক মান সকলের সমান নয়। কেউ ঘোর পাপী কেউ সাধারণ। সুতারাং এ সব ধন-সম্পদ লাভ করার সাথে পাপ বা পূণ্যের কোনও সম্পর্ক নাই। আল্লাহ্র জ্ঞান ও প্রজ্ঞা অনুধাবন করা সাধারণ মানুষের পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়।
