বরং তারা বলে, আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি এক পথের পথিক এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাংক অনুসরণ করে পথপ্রাপ্ত।
Nay! They say: ”We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we guide ourselves by their footsteps.”
بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ
Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihim muhtadoona
YUSUFALI: Nay! they say: “We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps.”
PICKTHAL: Nay, for they say only: Lo! we found our fathers following a religion, and we are guided by their footprints.
SHAKIR: Nay! they say: We found our fathers on a course, and surely we are guided by their footsteps.
KHALIFA: The fact is that: they said, “We found our parents carrying on certain practices, and we are following in their footsteps.”
২১। সে কি ! আমি কি ওদের কোর-আনের পূর্বে এমন কোন কিতাব দিয়েছি যা ওরা দৃঢ়ভাবে ধারণ করে আছে ?
২২। বরং তারা বলে,” নিশ্চয় আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের একটি নির্ভরযোগ্য ধর্মের অনুসারী পেয়েছি। এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণ করছি ৪৬২৭। ”
৪৬২৭। এ সব মোশরেকরা পূর্বপুরুষদের প্রথা ও নিয়মনীতির দোহাই দেয়। হযরত ইব্রাহীম ছিলেন মোশরেক আরবদের পূর্বপুরুষ। কিন্তু তিনি তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের মূর্তি পূঁজার প্রথা অস্বীকার করেন এবং আল্লাহ্র একত্বের প্রতি বিশ্বাসে ছিলেন অবিচল। সুতারাং পূর্বপুরুষদের দোহাই তাদের জন্য প্রযোজ্য ছিলো না – ছিলো মিথ্যা ওজর।
