সমান নয় ভাল ও মন্দ। জওয়াবে তাই বলুন যা উৎকৃষ্ট। তখন দেখবেন আপনার সাথে যে ব্যক্তির শত্রুতা রয়েছে, সে যেন অন্তরঙ্গ বন্ধু।
The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allâh ordered the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly), then verily! he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend.
وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ
Wala tastawee alhasanatu wala alssayyi-atu idfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu fa-itha allathee baynaka wabaynahu AAadawatun kaannahu waliyyun hameemun
YUSUFALI: Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate!
PICKTHAL: The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend.
SHAKIR: And not alike are the good and the evil. Repel (evil) with what is best, when lo! he between whom and you was enmity would be as if he were a warm friend.
KHALIFA: Not equal is the good response and the bad response. You shall resort to the nicest possible response. Thus, the one who used to be your enemy, may become your best friend.
৩৪। ভালো ও মন্দ সমান হতে পারে না ৪৫০৪। মন্দকে প্রতিহত কর ভালোর দ্বারা। তাহলে যার সাথে তোমার শত্রুতা আছে, সে হয়ে যাবে বন্ধু এবং অন্তরঙ্গ ৪৫০৫।
৪৫০৪। ভালো মন্দের মধ্যে কোনও তুলনা হতে পারে না। কারণ দুটি বস্তুর মধ্যে তুলনা তখনই হয়, যখন তাদের মধ্যে সামঞ্জস্য থাকে। ভালো ও মন্দ দুটির অবস্থান দুই মেরুতে। মন্দকে ভালে দ্বারা প্রতিহত করতে বলা হয়েছে ; তা হবে অতি উত্তম যেমন উত্তম হচ্ছে বিষের প্রতিষেধক দ্রব্য উত্তম বিষের থেকে। ভালো দ্বারা মন্দকে প্রতিহত করার ফলে , বিদ্বেষ ভালোবাসাতে রূপান্তরিত হবে। শত্রু হয়ে যাবে বন্ধু। জ্ঞান দ্বারা অজ্ঞানতাকে দূর করতে, দুষ্ট ও পাপীকে আল্লাহ্র প্রত্যাদেশ দ্বারা সংশোধন করতে বলা হয়েছে।যে মানুষ পাপের দাসত্বে আবদ্ধ তাকে সেই দাসত্ব থেকে মুক্ত করলে সে রূপান্তরিত হবে সর্বশ্রেষ্ট বন্ধু রূপে। আল্লাহ্র রাস্তায় সে হবে শ্রেষ্ঠ সাহায্যকারী। এভাবেই আল্লাহ্র বাণীর মাহত্ব্য যুগে যুগে মানুষের মনোজগতের পরিবর্তন ঘটায়।
