অতএব, আমরাও তোমার মোকাবেলায় তোমার নিকট অনুরূপ যাদু উপস্থিত করব। সুতরাং আমাদের ও তোমার মধ্যে একটি ওয়াদার দিন ঠিক কর, যার খেলাফ আমরাও করব না এবং তুমিও করবে না একটি পরিষ্কার প্রান্তরে।
”Then verily, we can produce magic the like thereof; so appoint a meeting between us and you, which neither we, nor you shall fail to keep, in an open wide place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition).”
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍ مِّثْلِهِ فَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّا نُخْلِفُهُ نَحْنُ وَلَا أَنتَ مَكَانًا سُوًى
Falana/tiyannaka bisihrin mithlihi faijAAal baynana wabaynaka mawAAidan la nukhlifuhu nahnu wala anta makanan suwan
YUSUFALI: “But we can surely produce magic to match thine! So make a tryst between us and thee, which we shall not fail to keep – neither we nor thou – in a place where both shall have even chances.”
PICKTHAL: But we surely can produce for thee magic the like thereof; so appoint a tryst between us and you, which neither we nor thou shall fail to keep, at a place convenient (to us both).
SHAKIR: So we too will produce before you magic like it, therefore make between us and you an appointment, which we should not break, (neither) we nor you, (in) a central place.
KHALIFA: “We will surely show you similar magic. Therefore, set an appointment that neither we, nor you will violate; in a neutral place.”
৫৮। ” কিন্তু আমরাও তোমার অনুরূপ যাদু উপস্থিত করতে পারি। সুতারাং আমাদের ও তোমার মধ্যে নির্ধারণ কর একটি মিলন স্থান [ ও সময় ]। যেখানে আমাদের উভয়েরই সমান সুযোগ থাকবে, যার ব্যতিক্রম আমরাও করবো না এবং তুমিও করবে না। ” ২৫৮২।
২৫৮২। “Suwan” আক্ষরিক অর্থ সমান, মসৃণ। এর দ্বারা এই আয়াতে নিম্নোক্ত ভাবসমূহ প্রকাশ করা যায় :
১) দুদিক থেকেই সমদূরবর্তী বা মধ্যবর্তী স্থান।
২) দু পক্ষের জন্য সম উপযোগী;
৩) সমান মসৃণ ভূমি যেখানে থেকে সকলেই দেখতে পাবে।
