অতঃপর তারা ঝুঁকে গেল মস্তক নত করে, তুমি তো জান যে, এরা কথা বলে না
Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): ”Indeed you [Ibrâhim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!”
ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا عَلَى رُؤُوسِهِمْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَؤُلَاء يَنطِقُونَ
Thumma nukisoo AAala ruoosihim laqad AAalimta ma haola-i yantiqoona
YUSUFALI: Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), “Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!”
PICKTHAL: And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not.
SHAKIR: Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak.
KHALIFA: Yet, they reverted to their old ideas: “You know full well that these cannot speak.”
৬৫। ফলে লজ্জ্বায় তারা অপ্রতিভ হয়ে [ বললো ] , ” তুমি তো ভালো করেই জানো এই [ মূর্তিগুলো ] কথা বলে না।” ২৭২২
২৭২২। তারা লজ্জায় মাথা নত করেছিলো আক্ষরিক ভাবে অর্থ তাই দাড়ায়। তবে সে লজ্জা মূর্তি পূজার জন্য নয়। তারা যে ইব্রাহীমের কাছে যুক্তি তর্কে পরাভূত হয়েছে এই লজ্জায়। বিভিন্ন জন বিভিন্ন ভাবে এই আয়াতটির ব্যাখ্যা প্রদান করে থাকেন।
