যদি আপনি আহলে কিতাবদের কাছে সমুদয় নিদর্শন উপস্থাপন করেন, তবুও তারা আপনার কেবলা মেনে নেবে না এবং আপনিও তাদের কেবলা মানেন না। তারাও একে অন্যের কেবলা মানে না। যদি আপনি তাদের বাসনার অনুসরণ করেন, সে জ্ঞানলাভের পর, যা আপনার কাছে পৌঁছেছে, তবে নিশ্চয় আপনি অবিচারকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হবেন।
And even if you were to bring to the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) all the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they would not follow your Qiblah (prayer direction), nor are you going to follow their Qiblah (prayer direction). And they will not follow each other’s Qiblah (prayer direction). Verily, if you follow their desires after that which you have received of knowledge (from Allâh), then indeed you will be one of the Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.).
وَلَئِنْ أَتَيْتَ الَّذِينَ أُوْتُواْ الْكِتَابَ بِكُلِّ آيَةٍ مَّا تَبِعُواْ قِبْلَتَكَ وَمَا أَنتَ بِتَابِعٍ قِبْلَتَهُمْ وَمَا بَعْضُهُم بِتَابِعٍ قِبْلَةَ بَعْضٍ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءهُم مِّن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ إِنَّكَ إِذَاً لَّمِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wala-in atayta allatheena ootoo alkitaba bikulli ayatin ma tabiAAoo qiblataka wama anta bitabiAAin qiblatahum wama baAAduhum bitabiAAin qiblata baAAdin wala-ini ittabaAAta ahwaahum min baAAdi ma jaaka mina alAAilmi innaka ithan lamina alththalimeena
YUSUFALI: Even if thou wert to bring to the people of the Book all the Signs (together), they would not follow Thy Qibla; nor art thou going to follow their Qibla; nor indeed will they follow each other’s Qibla. If thou after the knowledge hath reached thee, Wert to follow their (vain) desires,-then wert thou Indeed (clearly) in the wrong.
PICKTHAL: And even if thou broughtest unto those who have received the Scripture all kinds of portents, they would not follow thy qiblah, nor canst thou be a follower of their qiblah; nor are some of them followers of the qiblah of others. And if thou shouldst follow their desires after the knowledge which hath come unto thee, then surely wert thou of the evil-doers.
SHAKIR: And even if you bring to those who have been given the Book every sign they would not follow your qiblah, nor can you be a follower of their qiblah, neither are they the followers of each other’s qiblah, and if you follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, then you shall most surely be among the unjust.
KHALIFA: Even if you show the followers of the scripture every kind of miracle, they will not follow your Qiblah. Nor shall you follow their Qiblah. They do not even follow each others’ Qiblah. If you acquiesce to their wishes, after the knowledge that has come to you, you will belong with the transgressors.
১৪৫। যাদের কিতাব দেয়া হয়েছে, তুমি যদি তাদের নিকট সকল নিদর্শন [একসঙ্গে] হাজির কর, তবুও তারা তোমার কিব্লা অনুসরণ করবে না। তুমিও তাদের কিব্লা অনুসরণ করতে যাচ্ছ না। অবশ্যই তারা পরস্পরের কিব্লা অনুসরণ করবে না ১৫০। তোমার নিকট জ্ঞান আসার পরও যদি তুমি তাদের [মিথ্যা] খেয়াল-খুশীর অনুসরণ কর, নিশ্চয়ই তখন তুমি পাপীদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত হবে।
১৫০। টীকা নং ১৪৭ ও আয়াত ১৪৪ দেখুন। ইহুদী ও খৃষ্টানদের মধ্যে কিব্লা অনুসরণের রীতি ছিল কিন্তু ইসলামের মত এত সুদৃঢ় আইনের ভিত্তিতে কিব্লার অনুসরণ করতে তাদের একগুঁয়ে মন প্রস্তুত ছিল না। আর ইসলামেও একটি সুনির্দিষ্ট কিব্লা নির্ধারণের পর পূর্বের মত অন্য কোন অনিশ্চিত, অপূর্ণ ও ভিন্ন ভিন্ন মতের পরিতোষক কোন কিছু গ্রহণের কোন অবকাশ থাকে না।
