আমি এদের পূর্বে অনেক সম্প্রদায়কে ধবংস করেছি। যাদের বাসভুমিতে এরা বিচরণ করে, এটা কি এদেরকে সৎপথ প্রদর্শন করল না? নিশ্চয় এতে বুদ্ধিমানদের জন্যে নিদর্শনাবলী রয়েছে।
Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many generations We have destroyed before them, in whose dwellings they walk? Verily, in this are signs indeed for men of understanding.
أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِي مَسَاكِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّأُوْلِي النُّهَى
Afalam yahdi lahum kam ahlakna qablahum mina alqurooni yamshoona fee masakinihim inna fee thalika laayatin li-olee alnnuha
YUSUFALI: Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding.
PICKTHAL: Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them, amid whose dwellings they walk? Lo! therein verily are signs for men of thought.
SHAKIR: Does it not then direct them aright how many of the generations In whose dwelling-places they go about We destroyed before them? Most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding.
KHALIFA: Does it ever occur to them how many previous generations we have annihilated? They are now walking in the homes of those before them. These are signs for those who possess intelligence.
১২৮। এসব লোকের জন্য এটা কি সাবধান বাণী ছিলো না যে, তাদের পূর্বে কত মানব গোষ্ঠিকে আমি ধ্বংস করেছি, যাদের বাসভূমিতে তারা [ এখন ] বিচরণ করে ? অবশ্যই যারা বুঝতে পারে, তাদের জন্য এতে রয়েছে নিদর্শন ২৬৫২।
২৬৫২। ” যারা বুঝতে পারে, ” এই বাক্যটি পূর্বেও ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে আয়াত [ ২০ : ৫৪ ] তে। হযরত মুসা ও ফেরাউনেরর মধ্যে যে যুক্তি তর্কের অবতারণা ঘটেছিলো তারই সমাপ্তি পর্বে এই বাক্যটির উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। ফেরাউন অন্ধ বিদ্বেষে ক্রমাগত আল্লাহ্ নির্দ্দেশ সমূহ অস্বীকার করেছিলো – ফলে তাঁর আত্মা পাপের অন্ধকারে হারিয়ে যায়। সে আধ্যাত্মিক অন্ধত্ব বরণ করে। ফেরাউনের আত্মিক অন্ধত্বের বর্ণনা প্রসঙ্গে উক্ত উক্তি করা হয়। কিন্তু এই আয়াতে বাক্যটির প্রয়োগ হয়েছে সার্বজনীন ভাবে, যে মানুষ ইচ্ছাকৃত ভাবে আল্লাহ্র নিদর্শনসমূহ অস্বীকার করে সার্বজনীন ভাবে তাদের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতেই উপরের বক্তব্য প্রদান করা হয়েছে। এরা হচ্ছে তারা যারা চক্ষু থাকতেও অন্ধ – অর্থাৎ বিবেকবুদ্ধি বর্জিত ফলে অন্তর্দৃষ্টিহীন।
