আমি অনেক জনপদ ধবংস করেছি, যার অধিবাসীরা তাদের জীবন যাপনে মদমত্ত ছিল। এগুলোই এখন তাদের ঘর-বাড়ী। তাদের পর এগুলোতে মানুষ সামান্যই বসবাস করেছে। অবশেষে আমিই মালিক রয়েছি।
And how many a town (population) have We destroyed, which were thankless for its means of livelihood (disobeyed Allâh, and His Messengers, by doing evil deeds and crimes) ! And those are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them except a little. And verily! We have been the inheritors.
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا فَتِلْكَ مَسَاكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّن بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ الْوَارِثِينَ
Wakam ahlakna min qaryatin batirat maAAeeshataha fatilka masakinuhum lam tuskan min baAAdihim illa qaleelan wakunna nahnu alwaritheena
YUSUFALI: And how many populations We destroyed, which exulted in their life (of ease and plenty)! now those habitations of theirs, after them, are deserted,- All but a (miserable) few! and We are their heirs!
PICKTHAL: And how many a community have We destroyed that was thankless for its means of livelihood! And yonder are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them save a little. And We, even We, were the inheritors.
SHAKIR: And how many a town have We destroyed which exulted in its means of subsistence, so these are their abodes, they have not been dwelt in after them except a little, and We are the inheritors,
KHALIFA: Many a community we annihilated for turning unappreciative of their lives. Consequently, here are their homes, nothing but uninhabited ruins after them, except a few. We were the inheritors.
৫৮। কত জনপদকে আমি ধ্বংস করেছি যার বাসীন্দারা জীবন ধারণের [ আরাম – আয়েশ ও প্রাচুর্যের ] দম্ভ করতো। এখন তাদের পরে সেসব জনপদসমূহ, অল্প কিছু [দুঃস্থ ] লোকজনের বসবাস ব্যতীত , পরিত্যক্ত হয়ে পড়ে আছে ৩৩৯০। এবং আমিই তাদের উত্তরাধীকারী হয়েছি।
৫৯। তোমার প্রভু কোন জনপদকে ধ্বংস করেন না , যতক্ষণ না তিনি উহার কেন্দ্রস্থলে রাসুল প্রেরণ করে থাকেন, যে তাদের নিকট আমার আয়াতসমূহ আবৃত্তি করবে। এবং জনপদসমূহকে তখনই ধ্বংস করবো যখন এর বাসিন্দারা অন্যায় করার অভ্যাস করে।
৩৩৯০। এই আয়াতটিতে মহাকালের এক অমূল্য উপদেশকে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। আরাম আয়েস এবং প্রাচুর্য হচ্ছে শুধুমাত্র গর্বের বিষয়বস্তু। তবুও আমরা দেখি মানুষ ব্যক্তিগত ভাবে বা শহর কেন্দ্রিকভাবে বা জাতিগতভাবে সভ্যতা ,সম্পদ বা প্রাচুর্যের জন্য দম্ভ ও অহংকার করে থাকে। মানুষ কখনও ইতিহাস থেকে শিক্ষা নেয় না। এ রূপ কত সভ্যতা কালের গর্ভে বিলীন হয়ে গেছে যারা একদিন নিজেদের প্রাচুর্য ,সম্পদ ও ক্ষমতা ও সভ্যতার জন্য গর্বিত ও অহংকারী হয়ে পড়েছিলো। ভারতের মোহন-জো-দারো , ফাতেপুর-সীক্রী ইত্যাদি স্থান , মিশরের ফেরাউনের স্থান ইত্যাদি বহু সভ্যতার ইতিহাস পৃথিবীতে ছড়িয়ে আছে। এ সব সভ্যতার উন্নতি ও ধ্বংসের ইতিহাস সর্বদাই এক। যতদিন তারা ন্যায় ও সত্যের পথে চলেছে ততদিন তারা ক্রমান্বয়ে উন্নতি করেছে। কিন্তু যখনই তারা ন্যায় ও সত্যকে পরিহার করে অহংকার ও দম্ভে অন্যায় ও অত্যাচারের পথকে বেছে নেয় তখনই তাদের পতনের কারণ ঘটে। ন্যায় ও সত্য হচ্ছে আল্লাহ্র আইন।
