যখন আমি সোলায়মানের মৃত্যু ঘটালাম, তখন ঘুণ পোকাই জিনদেরকে তাঁর মৃত্যু সম্পর্কে অবহিত করল। সোলায়মানের লাঠি খেয়ে যাচ্ছিল। যখন তিনি মাটিতে পড়ে গেলেন, তখন জিনেরা বুঝতে পারল যে, অদৃশ্য বিষয়ের জ্ঞান থাকলে তারা এই লাঞ্ছনাপূর্ণ শাস্তিতে আবদ্ধ থাকতো না।
Then when We decreed death for him [Sulaimân (Solomon)], nothing informed them (jinns) of his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his stick, so when he fell down, the jinns saw clearly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have stayed in the humiliating torment.
فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَوْتَ مَا دَلَّهُمْ عَلَى مَوْتِهِ إِلَّا دَابَّةُ الْأَرْضِ تَأْكُلُ مِنسَأَتَهُ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ الْجِنُّ أَن لَّوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ الْغَيْبَ مَا لَبِثُوا فِي الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ
Falamma qadayna AAalayhi almawta ma dallahum AAala mawtihi illa dabbatu al-ardi ta/kulu minsaatahu falamma kharra tabayyanati aljinnu an law kanoo yaAAlamoona alghayba ma labithoo fee alAAathabi almuheeni
YUSUFALI: Then, when We decreed (Solomon’s) death, nothing showed them his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his staff: so when he fell down, the Jinns saw plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in the humiliating Penalty (of their Task).
PICKTHAL: And when We decreed death for him, nothing showed his death to them save a creeping creature of the earth which gnawed away his staff. And when he fell the jinn saw clearly how, if they had known the Unseen, they would not have continued in despised toil.
SHAKIR: But when We decreed death for him, naught showed them his death but a creature of the earth that ate away his staff; and when it fell down, the jinn came to know plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in abasing torment.
KHALIFA: When the appointed time for his death came, they had no clue that he had died. Not until one of the animals tried to eat his staff, and he fell down, did the jinns realized that he was dead. They thus realized that if they really knew the unseen, they would have stopped working so hard as soon as he died.
১৪। অতঃপর ,যখন আমি সুলাইমানের মৃত্যুর হুকুম দিলাম ,মাটির ক্ষুদ্র এক পোকা ব্যতীত কেহই জ্বিনদের তাঁর মৃত্যু সম্বন্ধে অবগত করায় নাই ৩৮০৮; যে পোকা তার লাঠিকে খাচ্ছিল। সুতারাং যখন সে পড়ে গেলো, তখন জ্বিনেরা বুঝতে পারলো যে, তারা যদি অদৃশ্য বিষয় সম্বন্ধে অবগত থাকতো তাহলে তারা [ তাদের কাজের দরুণ ] অপমানকর শাস্তিতে আবদ্ধ থাকতো না ৩৮০৯।
৩৮০৮। হযরত সুলাইমান [ আ ] লাঠিতে ভর দিয়ে বায়তুল মুকাদ্দিসের নির্মাণ কার্য তদারক করছিলেন। সেই অবস্থায়ই তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়। বায়তুল মুকাদ্দিসের নির্মাণ কার্য শেষ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত তাঁর মৃত দেহটি, জীবিত অবস্থায় তিনি যেই ভাবে ছিলেন , সেই ভাবে স্থির থাকে। নির্মাণ কার্য যখন শেষ হয় তখন লাঠিটি ভেঙ্গে পড়ে এবং তিনিও মাটিতে পড়ে যান। সম্পূর্ণ আয়াতটির মর্মার্থ তিনটি শিরোনামে ভাগ করা যায়।
১) মানুষের ক্ষমতা ও জাঁকজমক যতই বেশী ও গৌরবময় হোক না কেন তা সবই ক্ষণস্থায়ী। মানুষ অনুধাবন করার পূর্বেই তার ক্ষয় শুরু হয়ে যায়।
২) পৃথিবীর অসাধারণ ঘটনাসমূহ সব সময়ে উচ্চনাদে ভেরীধ্বনির মাধ্যমে ঘোষণা করা হয় না। সুলাইমানের মত অসাধারণ রাজন্যের মৃত্যু সংবাদ যখন কেহই জানতে পারে নাই; তা লোকচক্ষুর অগেচরে ছিলো ; তখন সর্ব সমক্ষে প্রকাশ পেলো, যখন লাঠিটি ভেঙ্গে গেলো।
৩৮০৯। জ্বিনেরা তাদের কাজকে শাস্তি হিসেবে মনে করতো। অপরপক্ষে , দাউদ নবীর লোকেরা এই কাজকে পবিত্র মনে করতো এবং অত্যন্ত যত্নসহকারে কার্য সম্পাদন করতো। ফলে তাদের কাজ পূণ্য কাজে রূপান্তরিত হয়। অপরপক্ষে জ্বিনেরা তাদের ইচ্ছার বিরুদ্ধে শুধুমাত্র শাস্তির ভয়ে কাজ করতো। সুতারাং তাদের কাজের মধ্যে কোনও পূণ্য ছিলো না যদিও মসজিদ তৈরীর কাজটি পূণ্য কাজ ছিলো। তারা অদৃশ্য বিষয়ে অবগত ছিলো না। সুতারাং তারা পোকার বিষয়ের মর্মার্থ অনুধাবন করতে পারে নাই।
উপদেশ : কাজের নিয়ত দ্বারাই কাজের প্রকৃত মূল্য নির্ধারিত হয়। আল্লাহ্কে খুশী করার জন্য একান্ত আন্তরিকভাবে কাজ করা হয় তাই-ই পূণ্য।
