যখন ওদের সামনে আমার আয়তসমূহ পাঠ করা হয়, তখন ওরা দম্ভের সাথে এমনভাবে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, যেন ওরা তা শুনতেই পায়নি অথবা যেন ওদের দু’কান বধির। সুতরাং ওদেরকে কষ্টদায়ক আযাবের সংবাদ দাও।
And when Our Verses (of the Qur’ân) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment.
وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا وَلَّى مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرًا فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Wa-itha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna walla mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha kaanna fee othunayhi waqran fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleemin
YUSUFALI: When Our Signs are rehearsed to such a one, he turns away in arrogance, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in both his ears: announce to him a grievous Penalty.
PICKTHAL: And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in pride as if he heard them not, as if there were a deafness in his ears. So give him tidings of a painful doom.
SHAKIR: And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement.
KHALIFA: And when our revelations are recited to the one of them, he turns away in arrogance as if he never heard them, as if his ears are deaf. Promise him a painful retribution.
০৭। এরূপ লোকের নিকট যখন আমার আয়াতসমূহ আবৃত্তি করা হয়, সে দম্ভভরে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, যেনো সে ইহা শুনতে পায় নাই , যেনো তার দুই কানেই বধিরতা রয়েছে। অতএব তার নিকট তুমি ভয়াবহ শাস্তির সংবাদ ঘোষণা কর ৩৫৮৫।
৩৫৮৫। উপরে বর্ণিত নির্বোধ লোকেরা এমন ব্যবহার করে যেনো তারা এরূপ কথা জন্মেও শোনে নাই। তারা কোরাণের এ সব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নির্দ্দেশনাকে হাসি ঠাট্টার বিষয়বস্তু রূপে কল্পনা করে। তাদের এই উপহাসে কারও কোনও ক্ষতি হবে না। ক্ষতি যা হবে তা ঐ উপহাসকারীর। কারণ তারা জীবনের উচ্চতর মহত্বর পরিপূর্ণতার দিক অনুধাবনে অক্ষম ,ফলে তারা আল্লাহ্র করুণা লাভেও অক্ষম হবে। আর এক্ষেত্রে তাদের অক্ষমতাই তাদের আল্লাহ্র করুণা থেকে বিচ্যুত করে। অজ্ঞতা এবং সেই সাথে দম্ভ অবাধ্যতা ও একগুয়েমী তাদের পতনের কারণ ঘটায়।
