অবশ্যই আমি মূসাকে কিতাব দিয়েছি। এবং তার পরে পর্যায়ক্রমে রসূল পাঠিয়েছি। আমি মরিয়ম তনয় ঈসাকে সুস্পষ্ট মোজেযা দান করেছি এবং পবিত্র রূহের মাধ্যমে তাকে শক্তিদান করেছি। অতঃপর যখনই কোন রসূল এমন নির্দেশ নিয়ে তোমাদের কাছে এসেছে, যা তোমাদের মনে ভাল লাগেনি, তখনই তোমরা অহংকার করেছ। শেষ পর্যন্ত তোমরা একদলকে মিথ্যাবাদী বলেছ এবং একদলকে হত্যা করেছ।
And indeed, We gave Mûsa (Moses) the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave ’Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear signs and supported him with Rûh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel) ]. Is it that whenever there came to you a Messenger with what you yourselves desired not, you grew arrogant? Some, you disbelieved and some, you killed.
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِ بِالرُّسُلِ وَآتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَيَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَاءكُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لاَ تَهْوَى أَنفُسُكُمُ اسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقاً كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقاً تَقْتُلُونَ
Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba waqaffayna min baAAdihi bialrrusuli waatayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinati waayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi afakullama jaakum rasoolun bima la tahwa anfusukumu istakbartum fafareeqan kaththabtum wafareeqan taqtuloona
YUSUFALI: We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay!
PICKTHAL: And verily We gave unto Moses the Scripture and We caused a train of messengers to follow after him, and We gave unto Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs (of Allah’s sovereignty), and We supported him with the Holy spirit. Is it ever so, that, when there cometh unto you a messenger (from Allah) with that which ye yourselves desire not, ye grow arrogant, and some ye disbelieve and some ye slay?
SHAKIR: And most certainly We gave Musa the Book and We sent messengers after him one after another; and We gave Isa, the son of Marium, clear arguments and strengthened him with the holy spirit, What! whenever then a messenger came to you with that which your souls did not desire, you were insolent so you called some liars and some you slew.
KHALIFA: We gave Moses the scripture, and subsequent to him we sent other messengers, and we gave Jesus, son of Mary, profound miracles and supported him with the Holy Spirit. Is it not a fact that every time a messenger went to you with anything you disliked, your ego caused you to be arrogant? Some of them you rejected, and some of them you killed.
৮৬। এরাই তারা, যারা পরকালের বিনিময়ে পার্থিব জীবনকে ক্রয় করে থাকে। তাদের শাস্তিকে লঘু করা হবে না অথবা তাদের সাহায্যও করা হবে না।

৮৭। আমি মুসাকে কিতাব দিয়েছিলাম এবং তাকে অনুসরণ করে পর্যায়ক্রমে রাসূল প্রেরণ করেছি। আমি মরিয়ম পুত্র ঈসাকে স্পষ্ট [প্রমাণ] দান করেছি এবং পবিত্র আত্মা দ্বারা শক্তিশালী করেছি ৯০। তবে কি যখনই কোন রাসূল তোমাদের নিকট এমন কিছু এনেছে যা তোমাদের মনঃপূত হয় নাই, তখনই তোমরা অহংকারে স্ফীত হয়েছ?-এদের কতককে বলেছ প্রতারক এবং অন্যদের করেছ হত্যা ৯১।
৯০। [১৯:১৬-৩৪] এই আয়াতগুলিতে যীশুখৃষ্টের জন্মের বিবরণ দেয়া হয়েছে। কেন তাঁকে ‘মরিয়মের পুত্র’ নামে সম্বোধন করা হয়েছে? ‘স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ’ কি? ‘পবিত্র আত্মা’ কে যা দ্বারা তাঁকে শক্তিশালী করা হয়েছিলো? আমরা কুরআনের এই উক্তি সম্বন্ধে পরে আলোচনা করবো। দেখুন সূরা ৩, আয়াত ৬২ এবং টিকা ৪০১।
৯১। সেকশন ১১-১৩, আয়াত [২:৮৭-১১২] পর্যন্ত সাধারণভাবে কিতাবী লোকদের সম্বন্ধে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে বিশেষভাবে ইহুদী ও খৃষ্টানদের সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে। খৃষ্টানদের ধর্মগ্রন্থে যেসব নৈতিক আইনাবলী বিদ্যমান তা ইহুদীদের কিতাব যা আল্লাহ্ মুসাকে দান করেছেন তারই অনুরূপ। হযরত মুহম্মদের (দঃ) ধর্ম ইসলামের শিক্ষা সেই একই স্রষ্টার কাছ থেকে আগত। সুতরাং খৃষ্টান বা ইহুদীদের তা না বোঝার বা না সনাক্ত করার কথা নয়। কিন্তু তাদের অন্ধ অহংকার ও উদ্ধতপনা তাদের ইসলাম গ্রহণে বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। সাধারণ উপদেশ হচ্ছে, অহংকার একটি খারাপ রিপু যা সত্যকে দেখতে, অনুধাবন করতে ও গ্রহণ করতে বাধা দেয়।
