যখন আমি তোমাদের কাছ থেকে অঙ্গীকার নিলাম যে, তোমরা পরস্পর খুনাখুনি করবে না এবং নিজেদেরকে দেশ থেকে বহিস্কার করবে না, তখন তোমরা তা স্বীকার করেছিলে এবং তোমরা তার সাক্ষ্য দিচ্ছিলে।
And (remember) when We took your covenant (saying): Shed not the blood of your people, nor turn out your own people from their dwellings. Then, (this) you ratified and (to this) you bear witness.
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَكُمْ لاَ تَسْفِكُونَ دِمَاءكُمْ وَلاَ تُخْرِجُونَ أَنفُسَكُم مِّن دِيَارِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ
Wa-ith akhathna meethaqakum la tasfikoona dimaakum wala tukhrijoona anfusakum min diyarikum thumma aqrartum waantum tashhadoona
YUSUFALI: And remember We took your covenant (to this effect): Shed no blood amongst you, nor turn out your own people from your homes: and this ye solemnly ratified, and to this ye can bear witness.
PICKTHAL: And when We made with you a covenant (saying): Shed not the blood of your people nor turn (a party of) your people out of your dwellings. Then ye ratified (Our covenant) and ye were witnesses (thereto).
SHAKIR: And when We made a covenant with you: You shall not shed your blood and you shall not turn your people out of your cities; then you gave a promise while you witnessed.
KHALIFA: We made a covenant with you, that you shall not shed your blood, nor shall you evict each other from your homes. You agreed and bore witness.
৮৪। এবং স্মরণ কর, আমি [এই মর্মে] তোমাদের অঙ্গীকার নিয়েছিলাম যে, ৮৮ নিজেদের মধ্যে রক্তপাত ঘটাবে না, নিজ সম্প্রদায়কে দেশ ছাড়া করবে না। তোমরা তা শ্রদ্ধার সাথে অনুমোদন করেছিলে এবং এ বিষয়ে তোমরাই ছিলে সাক্ষী।
৮৮। [২ : ৮৩] আয়াতটি হচ্ছে সার্বজনীন। পূর্বের আয়াতে যে অঙ্গীকার নেওয়া হয়েছিল [২:৮৪], আয়াতে তারই পরিশিষ্ট বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে। এই পরিশিষ্টে বলা হচ্ছে যে, মদিনায় হযরত মুহম্মদের (দঃ) নেতৃত্বে যে মুসলিম সম্প্রদায়ের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে, তাদের সাথে মদিনার ইহুদীরা চুক্তিতে আসে যার শর্তগুলি আয়াতে [২:৮৪] বর্ণিত হয়েছে। চুক্তিটি ইব্নে হিশামের সিরাত-উর-রসূল এবং আমীর আলীর স্পিরিট অফ ইসলাম গ্রন্থে [পৃষ্ঠা ৫৭-৬১ লন্ডন ১৯২২] বর্ণিত আছে। হিযরতের দ্বিতীয় বর্ষে মদিনায় ইহুদীরা বিশ্বাস ঘাতকতা করে এবং ঐ চুক্তি লঙ্ঘন করে। সে সম্পর্কে এখানে বলা হয়েছে।
