হে লোক সকল! একটি উপমা বর্ণনা করা হলো, অতএব তোমরা তা মনোযোগ দিয়ে শোন; তোমরা আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে যাদের পূজা কর, তারা কখনও একটি মাছি সৃষ্টি করতে পারবে না, যদিও তারা সকলে একত্রিত হয়। আর মাছি যদি তাদের কাছ থেকে কোন কিছু ছিনিয়ে নেয়, তবে তারা তার কাছ থেকে তা উদ্ধার করতে পারবে না, প্রার্থনাকারী ও যার কাছে প্রার্থনা করা হয়, উভয়েই শক্তিহীন।
O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily! Those on whom you call besides Allâh, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatched away a thing from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought.
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ضُرِبَ مَثَلٌ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ لَن يَخْلُقُوا ذُبَابًا وَلَوِ اجْتَمَعُوا لَهُ وَإِن يَسْلُبْهُمُ الذُّبَابُ شَيْئًا لَّا يَسْتَنقِذُوهُ مِنْهُ ضَعُفَ الطَّالِبُ وَالْمَطْلُوبُ
Ya ayyuha alnnasu duriba mathalun faistamiAAoo lahu inna allatheena tadAAoona min dooni Allahi lan yakhluqoo thubaban walawi ijtamaAAoo lahu wa-in yaslubuhumu alththubabu shay-an la yastanqithoohu minhu daAAufa alttalibu waalmatloobu
YUSUFALI: O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition!
PICKTHAL: O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought!
SHAKIR: O people! a parable is set forth, therefore listen to it: surely those whom you call upon besides Allah cannot create fly, though they should all gather for it, and should the fly snatch away anything from them, they could not take it back from i weak are the invoker and the invoked.
KHALIFA: O people, here is a parable that you must ponder carefully: the idols you set up beside GOD can never create a fly, even if they banded together to do so. Furthermore, if the fly steals anything from them, they cannot recover it; weak is the pursuer and the pursued.

৭৩। হে মানব সম্প্রদায় [ তোমাদের জন্য ] একটি উপমা উপস্থাপন করা হলো , মনোযোগ সহকারে উহা শ্রবণ কর। আল্লাহ্ ব্যতীত তোমরা যাকে আহ্বান কর, তারা তো একটি মাছিও সৃষ্টি করতে পারে না। যদি তারা এই উদ্দেশ্যে সকলে একত্রিত হয়, [ তবুও পারবে না ] এবং যদি মাছি কিছু তাদের নিকট থেকে ছিনিয়ে নেয়, উহাও মাছির নিকট থেকে উদ্ধার করার ক্ষমতা তাদের নাই। আবেদনকারী ও যাদের নিকট আবেদন করা হয় উভয়েই কত দুর্বল ২৮৫৫।
২৮৫৫। এই আয়াতে বলা হয়েছে যে মিথ্যা উপাস্য ও উপাস্যের উপসনাকারী উভয়েই দুর্বল , নির্বোধ এবং হতভাগ্য।
