অথচ তারা পূর্ব থেকে সত্যকে অস্বীকার করছিল। আর তারা সত্য হতে দূরে থেকে অজ্ঞাত বিষয়ের উপর মন্তব্য করত।
Indeed they did disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allâh, Islâm, the Qur’ân and Muhammad SAW) before (in this world), and they (used to) conjecture about the unseen [i.e. the Hereafter, Hell, Paradise, Resurrection and the Promise of Allâh, etc. (by saying) all that is untrue], from a far place.
وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَيَقْذِفُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ
Waqad kafaroo bihi min qablu wayaqthifoona bialghaybi min makanin baAAeedin
YUSUFALI: Seeing that they did reject Faith (entirely) before, and that they (continually) cast (slanders) on the unseen from a position far off?
PICKTHAL: When they disbelieved in it of yore. They aim at the unseen from afar off.
SHAKIR: And they disbelieved in it before, and they utter conjectures with regard to the unseen from a distant place.
KHALIFA: They have rejected it in the past; they have decided instead to uphold conjecture and guesswork.
৫৩। যখন তারা পূর্বেই ঈমানকে [ সম্পূর্ণ ] প্রত্যাখান করেছিলো,এবং তারা বহুদূর থেকে ক্রমাগত [ অপবাদ ] ছুঁড়ে মারতো ? ৩৮৬৫
৩৮৬৫। যদি মানুষ আত্মার অস্তিত্বে বিশ্বাস করে, তবে পরলোকের অস্তিত্ব সম্বন্ধে কোনও সন্দেহের অবকাশ নাই। অদৃশ্যে বিশ্বাসই হচ্ছে ঈমানের মূল ভিত্তি যা প্রকৃত সত্য। এর থেকে বড় সত্য আর কিছু নাই। যারা এই সত্যকে অস্বীকার করে, তাদের আত্মার মাঝে সত্যের প্রতি বিদ্বেষ ও আক্রোশের জন্ম লাভ করে। ফলে তারা সত্য প্রচারকদের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্বেষে বক্রোক্তি করে থাকে। তারা সত্যের প্রচারকদের অসৎ , মিথ্যাবাদী, মোনাফেক ইত্যাদি বিভিন্ন ভাষায় অপমানিত করে থাকে। যেহেতু তাদের বিদ্বেষ মিথ্যার উপরে প্রতিষ্ঠিত, সুতারাং তারা সর্বদা অলক্ষিতে , গোপনে সত্যের বিরুদ্ধে অপপ্রচার চালায়। এ যেনো দূর থেকে তীরন্দাজের লক্ষ্যভেদের মত অথবা গোপন স্থান থেকে বন্দুকের গুলি ছোঁড়া। ঠিক সেই ভাবে “তারা বহুদূর থেকে ক্রমাগত [ অপবাদ ] ছুঁড়ে মারতো।”
