আপনি তো এর পূর্বে কোন কিতাব পাঠ করেননি এবং স্বীয় দক্ষিণ হস্ত দ্বারা কোন কিতাব লিখেননি। এরূপ হলে মিথ্যাবাদীরা অবশ্যই সন্দেহ পোষণ করত।
Neither did you (O Muhammad SAW) read any book before it (this Qur’ân), nor did you write any book (whatsoever) with your right hand. In that case, indeed, the followers of falsehood might have doubted.
وَمَا كُنتَ تَتْلُو مِن قَبْلِهِ مِن كِتَابٍ وَلَا تَخُطُّهُ بِيَمِينِكَ إِذًا لَّارْتَابَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ
Wama kunta tatloo min qablihi min kitabin wala takhuttuhu biyameenika ithan lairtaba almubtiloona
YUSUFALI: And thou wast not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor art thou (able) to transcribe it with thy right hand: In that case, indeed, would the talkers of vanities have doubted.
PICKTHAL: And thou (O Muhammad) wast not a reader of any scripture before it, nor didst thou write it with thy right hand, for then might those have doubted, who follow falsehood.
SHAKIR: And you did not recite before it any book, nor did you transcribe one with your right hand, for then could those who say untrue things have doubted.
KHALIFA: You did not read the previous scriptures, nor did you write them with your hand. In that case, the rejectors would have had reason to harbor doubts.
৪৮। এবং [ এই কিতাবের ] পূর্বে তুমি তো কোন কিতাব পড়তে [ সক্ষম ছিলে না ]। তোমার ডান হাত দ্বারা ইহা নকল করতেও [ সক্ষম ] নও ৩৪৭৮। সেক্ষেত্রেও মিথ্যুক দাম্ভিকেরা [ এতে ] সন্দেহ পোষণ করছে।
৩৪৭৮। নবী করিম ছিলেন অক্ষর জ্ঞানহীন। কোরাণ অবতীর্ণ হওয়ার পূর্বে, তিনি কখনও আল্লাহ্র তরফ থেকে প্রত্যাদেশ পাওয়ার দাবী করেন নাই। তিনি কখনও কোনও সত্য প্রচার করেন নাই। এ অভ্যেস তাঁর কোনও দিনও ছিলো না। তিনি লেখাপড়া জানতেন না। সুতারাং নিজ হাতে কিছু লেখার প্রশ্নই আসে না। যদি তিনি লেখাপড়া জানতেন তবে হট্কারী ব্যক্তিরা এ কথা দাবী করতো যে তিনি কোন প্রত্যাদেশ লাভ করেন নাই ; তিনি যা প্রচার করছেন তা কোন বই থেকে সংগ্রহ করা। অথবা তিনি স্বহস্তে কোরাণের সুন্দর আয়াতগুলি রচয়িতা এবং তিনি তা স্মৃতিতে ধরে রেখে প্রচার করে থাকেন। কিন্তু উম্মী নবীর [ সা ] পক্ষে এর কোনটাই সম্ভব নয়। সুতারাং উম্মী নবীর [ সা ] কাছে কোরাণের মত গ্রন্থ অবতীর্ণ হওয়াই হচ্ছে, আল্লাহ্র প্রত্যাদেশের শ্রেষ্ঠ জ্বলন্ত মোজেজা।
