আর যখন আমি মূসার সাথে ওয়াদা করেছি চল্লিশ রাত্রির অতঃপর তোমরা গোবৎস বানিয়ে নিয়েছ মূসার অনুপস্থিতিতে। বস্তুতঃ তোমরা ছিলে যালেম।
And (remember) when We appointed for Mûsa (Moses) forty nights, and (in his absence) you took the calf (for worship), and you were Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).
وَإِذْ وَاعَدْنَا مُوسَى أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً ثُمَّ اتَّخَذْتُمُ الْعِجْلَ مِن بَعْدِهِ وَأَنتُمْ ظَالِمُونَ
Wa-ith waAAadna moosa arbaAAeena laylatan thumma ittakhathtumu alAAijla min baAAdihi waantum thalimoona
YUSUFALI: And remember We appointed forty nights for Moses, and in his absence ye took the calf (for worship), and ye did grievous wrong.
PICKTHAL: And when We did appoint for Moses forty nights (of solitude), and then ye chose the calf, when he had gone from you, and were wrong-doers.
SHAKIR: And when We appointed a time of forty nights with Musa, then you took the calf (for a god) after him and you were unjust.
KHALIFA: Yet, when we summoned Moses for forty nights, you worshiped the calf in his absence, and turned wicked.
৫১। এবং স্মরণ কর, মুসার জন্য চল্লিশ রাত্রি নির্ধারিত ৬৬ করেছিলাম। তাঁর অনুপস্থিতিতে তোমরা গো বৎসকে [উপাস্য রূপে] গ্রহণ করলে এবং [ফলে] তোমরা মহা পাপ করলে।
৬৬। এই আয়াতের ঘটনা ঐ সময়ের পর। হযরত মুসা ৪০ দিন তূর পাহাড়ে অবস্থান করেন এবং আল্লাহ্র এবাদতে মগ্ন থাকেন ফলে তাওরাত কিতাব লাভ করেন। কিন্তু বনী ইসরাঈলীরা হযরত মুসার অনুপস্থিতিতে অধৈর্য্য হয়ে উঠলো এবং সোনা দিয়ে একটি গো-বৎসের প্রতিমূর্তি করে তার পূঁজা শুরু করে দিলো।
