মুমিনগণ, তোমরা আমার ও তোমাদের শত্রুদেরকে বন্ধরূপে গ্রহণ করো না। তোমরা তো তাদের প্রতি বন্ধুত্বের বার্তা পাঠাও, অথচ তারা যে সত্য তোমাদের কাছে আগমন করেছে, তা অস্বীকার করছে। তারা রসূলকে ও তোমাদেরকে বহিস্কার করে এই অপরাধে যে, তোমরা তোমাদের পালনকর্তার প্রতি বিশ্বাস রাখ। যদি তোমরা আমার সন্তুষ্টিলাভের জন্যে এবং আমার পথে জেহাদ করার জন্যে বের হয়ে থাক, তবে কেন তাদের প্রতি গোপনে বন্ধুত্বের পয়গাম প্রেরণ করছ? তোমরা যা গোপন কর এবং যা প্রকাশ কর, ত আমি খুব জানি। তোমাদের মধ্যে যে এটা করে, সে সরলপথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়ে যায়।
O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists, etc.) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism, this Qur’ân, and Muhammad SAW), and have driven out the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) and yourselves (from your homeland) because you believe in Allâh your Lord! If you have come forth to strive in My Cause and to seek My Good Pleasure, (then take not these disbelievers and polytheists, etc., as your friends). You show friendship to them in secret, while I am All-Aware of what you conceal and what you reveal. And whosoever of you (Muslims) does that, then indeed he has gone (far) astray, (away) from the Straight Path .
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا عَدُوِّي وَعَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَاء تُلْقُونَ إِلَيْهِم بِالْمَوَدَّةِ وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِمَا جَاءكُم مِّنَ الْحَقِّ يُخْرِجُونَ الرَّسُولَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَن تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ رَبِّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيلِي وَابْتِغَاء مَرْضَاتِي تُسِرُّونَ إِلَيْهِم بِالْمَوَدَّةِ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِمَا أَخْفَيْتُمْ وَمَا أَعْلَنتُمْ وَمَن يَفْعَلْهُ مِنكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَاء السَّبِيلِ
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo AAaduwwee waAAaduwwakum awliyaa tulqoona ilayhim bialmawaddati waqad kafaroo bima jaakum mina alhaqqi yukhrijoona alrrasoola wa-iyyakum an tu/minoo biAllahi rabbikum in kuntum kharajtum jihadan fee sabeelee waibtighaa mardatee tusirroona ilayhim bialmawaddati waana aAAlamu bima akhfaytum wama aAAlantum waman yafAAalhu minkum faqad dalla sawaa alssabeeli
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Choose not My enemy and your enemy for allies. Do ye give them friendship when they disbelieve in that truth which hath come unto you, driving out the messenger and you because ye believe in Allah, your Lord? If ye have come forth to strive in My way and seeking My good pleasure, (show them not friendship). Do ye show friendship unto them in secret, when I am Best Aware of what ye hide and what ye proclaim? And whosoever doeth it among you, he verily hath strayed from the right way.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! do not take My enemy and your enemy for friends: would you offer them love while they deny what has come to you of the truth, driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord? If you go forth struggling hard in My path and seeking My pleasure, would you manifest love to them? And I know what you conceal and what you manifest; and whoever of you does this, he indeed has gone astray from the straight path.
KHALIFA: O you who believe, you shall not befriend My enemies and your enemies, extending love and friendship to them, even though they have disbelieved in the truth that has come to you. They persecute the messenger, and you, just because you believe in GOD, your Lord. If you mobilize to struggle in My cause, seeking My blessings, how can you secretly love them? I am fully aware of everything you conceal, and everything you declare. Those among you who do this have indeed strayed off the right path.

সূরা মুম্তাহিনা বা যে মহিলাকে পরীক্ষা করা হবে – ৬০
১৩ আয়াত, ২ রুকু, মাদানী
[ দয়াময়, পরম করুণাময় আল্লাহ্র নামে ]
ভূমিকা : মদিনায় অবতীর্ণ সূরা সমূহের যে দশটি সূরার শ্রেণীর উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে এটি হচ্ছে সেই শ্রেণীর চতুর্থ সূরা। এই শ্রেণীর প্রতিটি সূরা মুসলিম সম্প্রদায়ের জীবন ব্যবস্থার বিশেষ বিশেষ দিকগুলি আলোচনা করেছে।
এই সূরাতে যে বিষয়বস্তুর অবতারণা করা হয়েছে তা হচ্ছে, অবিশ্বাসী বা কাফেরদের সাথে সামাজিক সম্পর্ক সম্ভব কি ? এ ব্যাপারে অবিশ্বাসীদের দুই শ্রেণীতে বিভক্ত করা হয়েছে। একদল যারা তোমার ধর্মীয় বিশ্বাসের জন্য তোমাকে নির্যাতন করতে চায় এবং ধ্বংস করতে চায় ; অপরদল যাদের এরূপ কোনও অন্ধ বিদ্বেষ নাই। শেষোক্ত দলের জন্য আল্লাহ্র ক্ষমা ও করুণা লাভের সম্ভাবনা আছে। নারী ও অপর ধর্মে বিশ্বাসীদের বৈবাহিক সম্পর্কের উপরে আলোকপাত করা হয়েছে।
এই সূরার সময়কাল সম্বন্ধে বলা হয় যে, তা ছিলো হুদায়বিয়ার সন্ধিচুক্তি ভঙ্গের পর। দেখুন ৪৮ নং সূরার ভূমিকা। সম্ভবতঃ তা ছিলো ৮ম হিজরীতে – মক্কা বিজয়ের কিছু পুর্বে।
সার সংক্ষেপ : ধর্মের শত্রুরা তোমাকে ও তোমার বিশ্বাসকে ধ্বংস করতে উদগ্রীব। এরা তোমার ভালোবাসার পাওয়ার যোগ্য নয়। ইব্রাহীমের উদাহরণ অনুসরণ কর। যে সব অবিশ্বাসীরা তোমার প্রতি বিদ্বেষ ও আক্রোশ পোষণ না করে, তাদের সহানুভূতি ও ন্যায়ের সাথে ব্যবহার করবে। বিশ্বাসী ও অবিশ্বাসীর মধ্যে বৈবাহিক সম্পর্ক। [ ৬০ : ১ – ১৩ ]।

১৩ আয়াত, ২ রুকু, মাদানী
[ দয়াময়, পরম করুণাময় আল্লাহ্র নামে ]
১। হে বিশ্বাসীগণ ! তোমাদের এবং আমার শত্রুদের, বন্ধু [ অথবা রক্ষাকর্তা ] হিসেবে গ্রহণ করো না। তোমরা তাদের প্রতি [ তোমাদের ] ভালোবাসা নিবেদন কর ৫৪০৯ অথচ, তোমাদের নিকট যে সত্য এসেছে, তারা তা প্রত্যাখান করে, রসুলকে এবং তোমাদের [ মাতৃভূমি থেকে ] বহিষ্কার করেছে তার কারণ [ শুধুমাত্র ] এই যে, তোমরা তোমাদের প্রভু আল্লাহ্তে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন কর ৫৪১০। যদি তোমরা আমার পথে জিহাদের উদ্দেশ্যে এবং আমার সন্তুষ্টি অর্জনের জন্য বের হও, [ তবে তাদের বন্ধু হিসেবে নিও না ]। তোমরা তাদের সাথে গোপনে ভালোবাসা ও বন্ধুত্ব কর। তোমরা যা গোপন কর আর যা প্রকাশ কর, আমি তা খুব ভালোভাবেই জানি। এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে যে কেউ তা করে, সে তো সরল পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়।
৫৪০৯। এই আয়াত অবতীর্ণ হওয়ার প্রেক্ষাপট ছিলো, নিম্নরূপ : মক্কা অভিযানের প্রস্তুতি চলাকালে হাবিব ইব্ন বালতা’আ নামে এক মোহাজের এই অভিযানের সংবাদ এক চিঠিতে গোপনে মক্কাবাসীদের জানিয়েছিলেন। তাঁর পরিবার পরিজন ছিলো মক্কায়। তিনি তার পরিবার পরিজনের নিরাপত্তার সম্পর্কে শংকিত হয়ে, তাদের নিরাপত্তা প্রার্থনা করে এ কাজ করেছিলেন। রাসুলুল্লাহ্ (সা) ওহী মারফত এ কথা জানতে পারেন এবং চিঠিটা উদ্ধার করেন। হাবিব (রা) তার অন্যায় স্বীকার করেন ও ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করেন। যেহেতু তার কর্মের উদ্দেশ্য অসৎ প্রণোদিত ছিলো না সে কারণে তাকে ক্ষমা করে দেয়া হয়। এই ঘটনাটি ছিলো মক্কা বিজয়ের অল্প কিছু পূর্বের। এর আবেদন বিশ্বজনীন – যুগ কাল অতিক্রান্ত। যারা তোমার ও তোমার ধর্মের শত্রু, যারা তোমাকে ও তোমার ধর্মীয় বিশ্বাসকে ধ্বংস করতে চায়, তাদের সাথে গোপনে অন্তরঙ্গতা প্রার্থনা করা উচিত নয়। এমন কাজ পরিবার পরিজনদের জন্যও করা উচিত নয় – কারণ এরূপ কর্ম দ্বারা সমগ্র সম্প্রদায়ের নিরাপত্তা হয় হুমকির মুখে।
৫৪১০। এই আয়াতগুলির মাধ্যমে হিজরতের পরে মদিনার মুসলিম সম্প্রদায়ের তৎকালীন অবস্থার বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে। সময় কালটি ছিলো মক্কা বিজয়ের পূর্বে।
