আমি তোমাদেরকে যা দিয়েছি, তা থেকে মৃত্যু আসার আগেই ব্যয় কর। অন্যথায় সে বলবেঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমাকে আরও কিছুকাল অবকাশ দিলে না কেন? তাহলে আমি সদকা করতাম এবং সৎকর্মীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতাম।
And spend (in charity) of that with which We have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says: ”My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah (i.e. Zakât) of my wealth , and be among the righteous [i.e. perform Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah)].
وَأَنفِقُوا مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَاكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَا أَخَّرْتَنِي إِلَى أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Waanfiqoo min ma razaqnakum min qabli an ya/tiya ahadakumu almawtu fayaqoola rabbi lawla akhkhartanee ila ajalin qareebin faassaddaqa waakun mina alssaliheena
YUSUFALI: and spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, “O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good”.
PICKTHAL: And spend of that wherewith We have provided you before death cometh unto one of you and he saith: My Lord! If only thou wouldst reprieve me for a little while, then I would give alms and be among the righteous.
SHAKIR: And spend out of what We have given you before death comes to one of you, so that he should say: My Lord! why didst Thou not respite me to a near term, so that I should have given alms and been of the doers of good deeds?
KHALIFA: You shall give from our provisions to you before death comes to you, then you say, “My Lord, if only You could delay this for a short while! I would then be charitable and join the righteous!”
১০। তোমাদের কারও মৃত্যু আসার পূর্বে আমি তোমাদের যে অনুগ্রহ দান করেছি, তা থেকে [ দানে ] ব্যয় কর ৫৪৭৭। [ অন্যথায় ] সে তখন বলবে, ” হে আমার প্রভু ! কেন তুমি আমাকে আর কিছুকালের জন্য অবকাশ দাও না ? তাহলে আমি দানে [ প্রচুর ] ব্যয় করবো, এবং আমি সৎ কর্মশীলদের অন্তর্গত হব।”
৫৪৭৭। ‘রিযক’ বা জীবনোপকরণ। অর্থাৎ জীবনকে ধারণ করার জন্য যা প্রয়োজন। এই জীবনোপকরণ শুধু মাত্র অর্থ ও বিত্তের নিক্তিতে পরিমাপ্য নয়। মানুষকে আল্লাহ্ যে সব নেয়ামত বা মানসিক দক্ষতা দান করেছেন সবই তার জীবনোপকরণ। বস্তুগত দান যথা, অর্থ, সম্পদ, ইত্যাদি, স্পর্শাতীত দান যথা মেধা, মননশক্তি, সৃজন ক্ষমতা ইত্যাদি। যাকে আল্লাহ্ যে নেয়ামতই দান করুন না কেন তিনি তা জনগণের সেবায় আল্লাহকে খুশী করার জন্য ব্যয় করবেন। এই ব্যয় ‘যাকাত’ নয়। যাকাতের পরিমাণ নির্দ্দিষ্ট এবং তা অর্থের মাপকাঠিতে গ্রহণযোগ্য। আর ‘ব্যয়’ করা বা দান করা শুধুমাত্র অর্থের মাপকাঠিতে তা পরিশোধ যোগ্য নয়। এ হচ্ছে সেই দান যা পৃথিবীকে এবং পৃথিবীর সভ্যতাকে বৃহত্তর কল্যাণের পথে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে সাহায্য করে। দেখুন টিকা নং ২৭।
