অতঃপর তারা তাদের পালনকর্তার আদেশ অমান্য করল এবং তাদের প্রতি বজ্রঘাত হল এমতাবস্থায় যে, তারা তা দেখেছিল।
But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sâ’iqah overtook them while they were looking.
فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathat-humu alssaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroona
YUSUFALI: But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on.
PICKTHAL: But they rebelled against their Lord’s decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed;
SHAKIR: But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw.
KHALIFA: They rebelled against the command of their Lord. Consequently, the lightning struck them as they looked.
৪৪। কিন্তু তারা উদ্ধত ভাবে তাদের প্রভুর আদেশ লংঘন করেছিলো ৫০২১। ফলে [ ভূমিকম্পের ] হতবিহ্বলকারী শব্দ তাদের গ্রাস করলো, যদিও তারা তা চেয়ে দেখছিলো ৫০২২।
৫০২১। সামুদ জাতি আল্লাহ্র আদেশ অমান্য করে উষ্ট্রীকে বধ করলো [ ১১ : ৬৪ – ৬৫ ও টিকা ১৫৬০]। তারা সালেহ্ নবীকে ব্যঙ্গ বিদ্রূপ অব্যহত রাখলো, যে পর্যন্ত না প্রচন্ড শব্দে ভূমিকম্প তাদের গ্রাস করলো এবং তারা যেখানে ছিলো সেখানেই প্রোথিত হয়ে পড়লো।
৫০২২। “Saiqat” বজ্রের শব্দের ন্যায় বিকট শব্দ [ ২ : ৫৫ ]। প্রচন্ড ভূমিকম্পের সময়ে এরূপ প্রচন্ড শব্দ চারিদিক প্রকম্পিত করে [ দেখুন ৪১ : ১৭ আয়াত ও টিকা ৪৪৮৫ এবং ৭ : ৭৮ আয়াত ও টিকা ১০৪৭ ]।
