এগুলো কতগুলো নাম বৈ নয়, যা তোমরা এবং তোমাদের পূর্ব-পুরুষদের রেখেছ। এর সমর্থনে আল্লাহ কোন দলীল নাযিল করেননি। তারা অনুমান এবং প্রবৃত্তিরই অনুসরণ করে। অথচ তাদের কাছে তাদের পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে পথ নির্দেশ এসেছে।
They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allâh has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord!
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا أَسْمَاء سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُم مَّا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَانٍ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى الْأَنفُسُ وَلَقَدْ جَاءهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ الْهُدَى
In hiya illa asmaon sammaytumooha antum waabaokum ma anzala Allahu biha min sultanin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wama tahwa al-anfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda
YUSUFALI: These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!
PICKTHAL: They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them.
SHAKIR: They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord.
KHALIFA: These are but names that you made up, you and your forefathers. GOD never authorized such a blasphemy. They follow conjecture, and personal desire, when the true guidance has come to them herein from their Lord.
২৩। এগুলি তো কতকগুলি নাম মাত্র, যা তোমরা ও তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা উদ্ভাবন করেছে ৫০৯৭, – যার সমর্থনে আল্লাহ্ কোনরূপ বিধিসংগত ক্ষমতা প্রেরণ করেন নাই। তারা তো অনুমান ও নিজেদের প্রবৃত্তির অনুসরণ ব্যতীত অন্য কিছুর অনুসরণ করে না ; যদিও তাদের নিকট ইতিমধ্যে তাদের প্রভুর পথনির্দ্দেশ এসেছে ৫০৯৮।
৫০৯৭। দেখুন আয়াত [ ৭ : ৭১] ; [ ১২ : ৪০ ] ও টিকা ১৬৯৩। পৌত্তলিকেরা তাদের সৃষ্ট পাথরের মূর্তি অথবা জাতীয় বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ তা জীবিত বা মৃত যাই হোক না কেন এমন কি আল্লাহ্র প্রেরিত রাসুল বা মুত্তাকী বান্দা যেই-ই হোক না কেন এ সবের উপাসনা করা বা উপাস্য রূপে গ্রহণ করা সবই হচ্ছে মানুষের নিজস্ব কল্পনার প্রকাশ মাত্র। তারা যেই-ই হোক না কেন, যাই-ই হোক না কেন এ কথা মনে রাখতে হবে যে, তারা সবাই আল্লাহ্র সৃষ্ট। কেউই স্রষ্টার ভূমিকা গ্রহণ করতে পারে না।
৫০৯৮। ধর্মীয় ব্যাপারে অনুমান করা এক অত্যন্ত গর্হিত কাজ। কিন্তু যুগে যুগে মানুষ তাই-ই করে থাকে। এ সবের পিছনে মানুষের নিজস্ব স্বার্থ ও হৃদয়ের প্রবৃত্তির অনুপ্রেরণা বিরাজ করে মাত্র। মানুষের নিজস্ব আকাঙ্খা ও প্রবৃত্তির প্রেরণার এ মনঃস্তত সর্বযুগে বিদ্যমান ছিলো এবং এখনও আছে ও ভবিষ্যতেও থাকবে। ধর্মের নামে মানুষের এই আত্মপ্রতারণার রূপ পৃথিবীর সর্বত্র বিদ্যমান – আর এ কারণেই ধর্মের নামে এত ভেদাভেদ এত সংঘর্ষ এত হানাহানি। মানুষের মনঃস্তত্বের এই চিত্র এই আয়াতে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। দেখুন আয়াত [ ৬: ১১৬ ]।
