তিনি শহরে প্রবেশ করলেন, যখন তার অধিবাসীরা ছিল বেখবর। তথায় তিনি দুই ব্যক্তিকে লড়াইরত দেখলেন। এদের একজন ছিল তাঁর নিজ দলের এবং অন্য জন তাঁর শত্রু দলের। অতঃপর যে তাঁর নিজ দলের সে তাঁর শত্রু দলের লোকটির বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর কাছে সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করল। তখন মূসা তাকে ঘুষি মারলেন এবং এতেই তার মৃত্যু হয়ে গেল। মূসা বললেন, এটা শয়তানের কাজ। নিশ্চয় সে প্রকাশ্য শত্রু, বিভ্রান্তকারী।
And he entered the city at a time of unawareness of its people, and he found there two men fighting, – one of his party (his religion – from the Children of Israel), and the other of his foes. The man of his (own) party asked him for help against his foe, so Mûsa (Moses) struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: ”This is of Shaitân’s (Satan) doing, verily, he is a plain misleading enemy.”
وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ عَلَى حِينِ غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلَانِ هَذَا مِن شِيعَتِهِ وَهَذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَاسْتَغَاثَهُ الَّذِي مِن شِيعَتِهِ عَلَى الَّذِي مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ هَذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌّ مُّبِينٌ
Wadakhala almadeenata AAala heeni ghaflatin min ahliha fawajada feeha rajulayni yaqtatilani hatha min sheeAAatihi wahatha min AAaduwwihi faistaghathahu allathee min sheeAAatihi AAala allathee min AAaduwwihi fawakazahu moosa faqada AAalayhi qala hatha min AAamali alshshaytani innahu AAaduwwun mudillun mubeenun
YUSUFALI: And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting,- one of his own religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe, and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said: “This is a work of Evil (Satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!”
PICKTHAL: And he entered the city at a time of carelessness of its folk, and he found therein two men fighting, one of his own caste, and the other of his enemies; and he who was of his caste asked him for help against him who was of his enemies. So Moses struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: This is of the devil’s doing. Lo! he is an enemy, a mere misleader.
SHAKIR: And he went into the city at a time of unvigilance on the part of its people, so he found therein two men fighting, one being of his party and the other of his foes, and he who was of his party cried out to him for help against him who was of his enemies, so Musa struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: This is on account of the Shaitan’s doing; surely he is an enemy, openly leading astray.
KHALIFA: Once he entered the city unexpectedly, without being recognized by the people. He found two men fighting; one was (a Hebrew) from his people, and the other was (an Egyptian) from his enemies. The one from his people called on him for help against his enemy. Moses punched him, killing him. He said, “This is the work of the devil; he is a real enemy, and a profound misleader.”
১৫। [ মুসা একদিন ] নগরে প্রবেশ করলো যখন উহার অধিবাসীরা সর্তক ছিলো না ৩৩৪১। এবং সে সেখানে দুইটি লোককে সংঘর্ষে লিপ্ত অবস্থায় দেখলো। একজন তার নিজ ধর্মের এবং অপরজন তার শত্রুদলের। এখন মুসার নিজ ধর্মের লোকটি তার শত্রুর বিরুদ্ধে মুসার নিকট সাহায্যের আবেদন করলো, এবং মুসা তাকে ঘুষি মারলো ৩৩৪২। ফলে তার জীবন অবসান হলো। সে [মুসা ] বলেছিলো, ” এটা শয়তানের কাজ। সে তো প্রকাশ্য বিভ্রান্তকারী শত্রু।”
৩৩৪১। মুসা যখন নগরীতে প্রবেশ করলো, সম্ভবতঃ তা ছিলো মধ্যাহ্ন কাল, যখন মিশরের ব্যবসা বাণিজ্য কিছুক্ষণের জন্য বন্ধ থাকে। প্রচন্ড সূর্যতাপ থেকে রক্ষা পাওয়ার জন্য লোকজন গৃহের ছায়াতে আশ্রয় নেয়। অথবা সময় কালটি ছিলো রাত্রিকাল – যখন শহরের অধিবাসীরা সুপ্তির কোলে আশ্রয় গ্রহণ করে। আয়াত ১৮ এর বর্ণনা অনুযায়ী শেষের বর্ণনাটিই অধিক প্রযোজ্য মনে হয়, এর আর একটি কারণ হতে পারে মুসা রাজপরিবারে রাজপুত্রের ন্যায় প্রতিপালিত। সুতারাং একজন রাজপুরুষের যে কোনও সময়ে নাগরিক সুবিধা বঞ্চিতদের সমাজে, হীনভাবে বিবেচিতদের আবাসস্থলে যে কোনও সময়ে ভ্রমণ করা সম্ভব নয়। অবশ্যই সময়টা এমন হতে হবে, যখন তাঁকে কেউ লক্ষ্য করবে না। মুসা সেই সব কারণে প্রহরীদের ফাঁকি দিয়ে গোপনে রাতে ভ্রমণ করেছিলেন। তাঁর উদ্দেশ্য ছিলো নিজ চোখে ইহুদীদের অবস্থা পর্যবেক্ষণ করা। ইহুদীদের প্রতি যে নিদারুণ অত্যাচার অবিচারের কাহিনী তিনি শুনেছিলেন সম্ভবতঃ তা তিনি নিজে বিচার করতে চেয়েছিলেন। আমরা ধরে নিতে পারি তিনি তাঁর মায়ের সংস্পর্শে সব সময়েই ছিলেন – যার ফলে তাঁর মধ্যে ইহুদীদের প্রতি বিশেষ এক আত্মিক সম্পর্ক অনুভব করা যায়।
৩৩৪২। সংঘর্ষ হচ্ছিল ইহুদী ও মিশরবাসীর মধ্যে। মুসার উদ্দেশ্য ছিলো মিশরবাসীকে আঘাত করে ইহুদীকে মুক্ত করা। তিনি মিশরবাসীটিকে হত্যা করতে চান নাই। কিন্তু ঘটনাচক্রে মিশরবাসীটি মুসার এক ঘুষিতেই মৃত্যুবরণ করে। সম্পূর্ণ ঘটনাটি মুসার জন্য ছিলো বহুকারণে দুর্ভাগ্যজনক। কারণ প্রথমতঃ মুসা নিয়ম বর্হিভূত ভাবে গোপনে নগরী ভ্রমণ করছিলো, দ্বিতীয়তঃ দুর্বলের পক্ষ অবলম্বন করতে যেয়ে তিনি একজন স্বাধীন মিশরবাসীর মৃত্যুর কারণ হয়েছেন। এসব কারণে তিনি অত্যন্ত দুঃখিত ও অনুতপ্ত হয়ে পড়েন এবং আল্লাহ্র নিকট ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করেন এবং আল্লাহ্র ক্ষমা লাভ করেন।
