তাদের পূর্বে যেসব জনপদ আমি ধবংস করে দিয়েছি, তারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেনি; এখন এরা কি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে?
Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe?
مَا آمَنَتْ قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Ma amanat qablahum min qaryatin ahlaknaha afahum yu/minoona
YUSUFALI: (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe?
PICKTHAL: Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe?
SHAKIR: There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe?
KHALIFA: We never annihilated a believing community in the past. Are these people believers?
০৬। তাদের পূর্বে যে সব জনপদ আমি ধ্বংস করেছি তার অধিবাসীরা ঈমান আনে নাই। এরা কি ঈমান আনবে ? ২৬৬৯
২৬৬৯। অলৌকিক মোজেজা কখনও ঈমান বা বিশ্বাসের ভিত্তি হতে পারে না। পূর্ববর্তী নবী রসুলদের অলৌকিক ক্ষমতা থাকা সত্ত্বেও কাফেররা ঈমান আনে নাই। সুতারাং মোজেজা দর্শনে ঈমান আনার কথা বলা; বাহানা বই আর কিছু নয়। অলৌকিক ক্ষমতা দর্শন ঈমানের ভিত্তি হতে পারে না। ঈমান হচ্ছে অন্তরের দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস আল্লাহ্র প্রতি এবং একান্ত নির্ভরশীলতা সেই স্রষ্টার প্রতি যিনি এক এবং অদ্বিতীয়। এটা এক ধরণের মানসিক অবস্থা [ State of mind ] এর সাথে মোজেজার কোনও সম্পর্ক নাই।
