তুমি কি তাদেরকে দেখনি, যারা মৃত্যুর ভয়ে নিজেদের ঘর ছেড়ে বেরিয়ে গিয়েছিলেন? অথচ তারা ছিল হাজার হাজার। তারপর আল্লাহ তাদেরকে বললেন মরে যাও। তারপর তাদেরকে জীবিত করে দিলেন। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ মানুষের উপর অনুগ্রহকারী। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক শুকরিয়া প্রকাশ করে না।
Did you (O Muhammad SAW) not think of those who went forth from their homes in thousands, fearing death? Allâh said to them, ”Die”. And then He restored them to life. Truly, Allâh is full of Bounty to mankind, but most men thank not.
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيَارِهِمْ وَهُمْ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ اللّهُ مُوتُواْ ثُمَّ أَحْيَاهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَشْكُرُونَ
Alam tara ila allatheena kharajoo min diyarihim wahum oloofun hathara almawti faqala lahumu Allahu mootoo thumma ahyahum inna Allaha lathoo fadlin AAala alnnasi walakinna akthara alnnasi la yashkuroona
YUSUFALI: Didst thou not Turn by vision to those who abandoned their homes, though they were thousands (In number), for fear of death? Allah said to them: “Die”: Then He restored them to life. For Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but Most of them are ungrateful.
PICKTHAL: Bethink thee (O Muhammad) of those of old, who went forth from their habitations in their thousands, fearing death, and Allah said unto them: Die; and then He brought them back to life. Lo! Allah is a Lord of Kindness to mankind, but most of mankind give not thanks.
SHAKIR: Have you not considered those who went forth from their homes, for fear of death, and they were thousands, then Allah said to them, Die; again He gave them life; most surely Allah is Gracious to people, but most people are not grateful.
KHALIFA: Have you noted those who fled their homes – though they were in the thousands – fearing death? GOD said to them, “Die,” then revived them. GOD showers His grace upon the people, but most people are unappreciative.
২৪১। তালাকপ্রাপ্ত নারীদের ন্যায়সঙ্গত [মানে] ভরণ পোষণ দেবে। পূণ্যাত্মাদের জন্য এটা কর্তব্য।
২৪২। এভাবেই আল্লাহ্ তাঁর বিধান সমূহ তোমাদের জন্য সুস্পষ্ট করেছেনে যেনো তোমরা বুঝতে পার।
রুকু – ৩২
২৪৩। তুমি কি তাদের দেখ নাই, যারা মৃত্যুভয়ে তাদের গৃহ পরিত্যাগ করেছিলো, যদিও তারা [সংখ্যায়] ছিলো হাজারে হাজার? আল্লাহ্ তাদের বলেছিলেন, ‘তোমাদের মৃত্যু হোক’। অতঃপর আল্লাহ্ তাদের জীবিত করেছিলেন ২৭৪। মানুষের প্রতি আল্লাহ্ অনুগ্রহে পূর্ণ; কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই অকৃতজ্ঞ।
২৭৪। এই আয়াতে আমরা আবার জিহাদের কথায় ফিরে এলাম যা পূর্বে [২:২১৪-২১৬] বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে। জিহাদ সম্পর্কে আমাদের কোনও রকম ভ্রান্ত ধারণা থাকা উচিত নয়। একথা সর্বদা বিশ্বাস রাখা কর্তব্য যে জীবন ও মৃত্যুর মালিক একমাত্র আল্লাহ্। যদি আমরা আমাদের ঈমান বা বিশ্বাসের জন্য যুদ্ধ করতে প্রস্তুত না থাকি; যদি আমরা আমাদের বিশ্বাসের অস্তিত্ব রক্ষা করার জন্য আমাদের সমস্ত বিষয় সম্পত্তি, সহায়-সম্বল, আমাদের সর্ব প্রচেষ্টা নিয়োগ না করি, তবে অচিরেই আমাদের সযত্নে রক্ষিত অর্থ-সম্পদ, সহায়-সম্বল শত্রু কবলিত হয়ে যাবে। জীবন ও মৃত্যুর মালিক আল্লাহ্। ভীতুরা মনে করে সযত্নে রক্ষা করায় তারা হয়তো মৃত্যুকে এড়াতে সক্ষম হবে, কিম্বা শত্রুর কাছে আত্ম নিবেদন করে নিজেকে এবং অর্থ সম্পদ রক্ষা করতে সক্ষম হবে। কিন্তু ইতিহাসই এর প্রমাণ বহন করে। যারা মৃত্যুকে বা ক্ষতিকে এড়ানোর জন্য ধর্ম যুদ্ধকে পরিহার করে এবং শত্রুর কাছে ভীতুর ন্যায় আত্মসমর্পন করে, তারা এর কোনটা থেকেই রেহাই পায় না। সংখ্যায় অধিক থাকলেও তাদের ভাগ্যে থাকে অপমানজনক মৃত্যু। এই উপদেশটি সর্বকালের এবং সর্বযুগের জন্য প্রযোজ্য। অবশ্য কোন ঘটনার প্রেক্ষিতে আয়াতটি নাজেল হয় তফসীরকারদের মধ্যে মতভেদ আছে। কিন্তু এর যে উপদেশ বা শিক্ষা তা সার্বজনীন।
